EL DORADO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION CLASS SPECIFICATION CLASS TITLE: Administrative Psychologist – Special Services Job Purpose Statement: Under general direction of the Special Services Executive Director, interacts with district administrators, teachers, students, and care providers to support and facilitate the maintenance and development of quality services to children and adolescents. Essential Job Functions: 

Assist staff (e.g. resource specialist, designated instruction and service Instructors, special class teachers, psychologists) in the planning and implementation of all components of Individual Education Plans.



Supervise and evaluate certificated/classified staff as required.



Coordinate curricular resources and make them available and effective for personnel who are in need of the resources in order to effectively implement behavior plans.



Studies and assists pupils using various techniques including, but not limited to: conferencing, counseling, psychometrics and observation.



Serves as a member of assessment teams and individualized education program teams with primary responsibility to conduct assessments as required (including Functional Behavior Assessments, Functional Analysis Assessments and Triennial Reevaluations), write assessment reports and chair IEP team meetings as necessary.



Conducts staff development, research, program development, including meetings/processes that provide innovative or special methods and approaches.



Provide coordination, consultation, and program development in all areas related to the education of students with disabilities.



Assure that pupils have full educational opportunity, regardless of the district of residence in the Special Education Local Plan Area.



Provides general interagency and interdepartmental support and guidance, including attending staff, professional and interagency meetings as needed.

Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.



Coordinates intervention strategies for management of individuals and school-wide crises.



Confers with teachers and parents whenever necessary.



Keeps abreast of new developments in the field and uses this information to assist instructional staff to enhance the academic performance of students.

Job Requirements - Qualifications: 

Education: Required -- Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential; Valid California Administrative Services Credential.



Experience: Five years of successful special education experience.

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: 

Knowledge of special education laws and regulations; general education curriculum; alternative dispute methods and techniques; disabilities and appropriate curriculum; behavior management systems, behavior analysis techniques, behavior intervention techniques.



Skill and Ability to plan, implement, assess and evaluate programs; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; effectively transmit knowledge and skill to others; plan, develop, and conduct meetings and training programs; develop measurable goals and objectives, set priorities, monitor expenditures; maintain positive working relationships with administrators, teachers, parents and others; make presentations to various audiences; deal with challenges inherent in working with multiple school districts and county office of education. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds, visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation.



Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing: Possession of a valid California driver’s license; TB test clearance; Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance; valid California Service Credentials as described above.
