THIEL CHOIR IN CONCERT AT ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH

AIKEN, SOUTH CAROLINA GREENVILLE, PA – The Thiel Choir will sing for a Time of Prayer and Song in Concert at 7:00 pm

at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 961 Trail Ridge Rd., Aiken, SC., on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 as part of their spring break choir tour. Each year, under the direction of Dr. Michael Bray, director of choral activities, and accompanist Kathryn A. Gray, the student choir performs a largely a cappella program in Lutheran churches throughout the eastern United States. Every four years the choir embarks on an extensive domestic tour or an overseas tour. This past May, 2016, the choir completed a thirteen-day tour of Ireland. The choir will perform a variety of sacred works including works by Hans Leo Hassler, Heinrich Schütz, Rene Clausen, Jean Berger, F. Melius Christiansen, Michael John Trotta, Knut Nystedt, and Robert Wetzler, arrangements of both American folksongs, hymns and spiritual. For this 500th anniversary year of the Reformation, excerpts from the writings of Martin Luther will help weave a narrative for our time. There is no charge for admission, but a freewill offering will be received. Founded in 1866, Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., is a liberal arts, sciences and professional studies college related to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
