INTRODUCTION Before you start this project, you should take proper precautions. Before you start anything, you need to unplug the computer from the wall. Unplugging the computer is a must to avoid electrocution. It is recommended to take precautions against ESD by using an anti-static mat and a grounding cable. The only tool you will need for this fix is a screwdriver. You will also need a replacement RAM card.

Step 1 — RAM 

The first step is to unscrew this screw. After that you want to slide the case cover off of the computer.



After the Case is open, you want to disconnect the cable to the LED's on the system case.

You will need to unscrew two screws from the fan cover. The screws are located in the red markers. Then you will gently lift the cover out of the case.

Step 4 

For this step you will unplug the SATA cable at the base of the CD drive circled in blue. You will then unscrew the screw circled in red above. Once that is done you will slide out the CD drive.



Here, you will unhook the latch on the RAM card and gently pull out the RAM. The latch is circled in red.

At this point you will need to grab your new card. The card is very susceptible to ESD, so be careful.



You will insert the new card. The card must click into the slot. Be sure that the card is inserted properly, and the latch is closed.

Step 7
