All participants must show their Boise State Identification Card prior to each contest. Eligibility status is the responsibility of each individual participant and the Team Manager. Primary requirement is maintain a Boise State University Recreation Center Membership throughout the complete season. 1.1 The game shall be played by two teams of ten players. A minimum of six players is necessary to begin play. 1.2 A team consists of five male and five female. If the team starts with less players there may not be a gender difference greater than one in the field at any time. Ex. five male and four female, four female and three male. Minimum to play is three male and three female. 1.3 A 5-minute grace period from the scheduled starting time will be allowed before a forfeit is declared. 1.4 Rule interpretations (not judgment calls) are the only areas of discussion between a Team Manager and Officials. 2.1 Each game will be six innings in length or have a 40-minute time limit, beginning at the first pitch. The plate umpire will determine the official time. A new inning will not be started after 35 minutes of playing.  Regular season will be drop dead time limit and revert to the previous inning or last time there was a lead at the end of an inning.  Playoffs will complete the inning, though if still tied will revert back to where there was a lead. 2.2 Three (3) outs by a team completes the team’s half of the inning. 2.3 A flip of a coin will determine who is the “Home Team,” or a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors 2.4 If a game is called because of rain, three innings will constitute a legal game. During play, rain-outs will be determined by the Intramural Supervisor. 2.5 The ideal lineup will consist of an equal number of men and women players. The batting order will alternate genders (m-wm-w). 2.6 You may bat/kick your full team if you would like and have even numbers. 2.7 It is acceptable to have one or more players of one gender than the other, but an automatic out will be inserted in the batting order at the spot between the two batters of the same gender. In cases where there are more than one extra player of one gender, the players must enter by substitution. 2.8 Starting players may reenter unlimited times but only at the same spot in the batting order (example: batter #7 may only reenter at batting position #7). Substitutes may enter unlimited times but only for the original player substituted for. 2.9 If a player checks-in with the Intramural Supervisor as a player after the start of the game, he/she must be placed at bottom of the order unless he/she can occupy a spot in the order between two players of the same gender. In such a case, the automatic out will be canceled for any subsequent play. 3.1 No bouncing pitches. In kickball it is not expected that the pitcher will strike out each batter. If the official deems a pitch is too bouncy it will be declared no pitch. On the third consecutive pitch that is too bouncy the official may ask that you switch pitchers. 3.2 The pitcher must stay in contact with the pitchers line until the ball is kicked. Failure to do so results in a no pitch. 3.3 No player may field in front of the pitcher other than the catcher, and no player may advance forward the 1st to 3rd base diagonal until the ball is kicked. 3.4 The catcher must field directly behind the kicker and may not cross home plate before the ball is kicked.  Failure to do so will result in a (balk) runners advancing one base 3.5 A count of three (3) strikes constitutes an out. 3.6 A strike is a pitch in the vicinity of home plate either not kicked, or missed by the kicker, or a foul ball and called strike by the official  Ex. With two strikes there will be a warning foul and another foul will be considered an out  A Foul ball is a ball kicked in front of home plate, or a foul ball that does not cross the field beyond the diagonal between 1st and 3rd base prior to coming to rest beyond or in foul territory. 3.7 There are no balls, but there are no pitches deemed by the official if too bouncy 4.1 4.2 4.3 4.4

All kicks must be made by foot. All kicks must occur at or behind home plate. A kick in front of home plate is called a foul. A kicker is always out on the third strike regardless of all subsequent action including a wild pitch, passed ball, etc. A kicker is out on the third strike if it is the result of a foul ball.

4.5 Bunting is not allowed and all kicks must clear the infield. If a kick comes to rest prior to clearing the infield it is deemed a bunt and is declared an out. 5.1 There are no lead-offs, a runner may not leave the base until the ball has been kicked. If a runner is called out for leaving a base prematurely, the ball becomes dead and the subsequent action is canceled. NOTE: When the kicker attempts a pitch and misses, the base runner will be allowed a “free step” and is not out for leading off. 5.2 A kicker-runner may overrun first base without liability to be tagged out. The runner may be tagged out when there is an attempt or movement to advance to second base. Simply turning left/right is NOT an attempt to go to second. Turning is a simple motion that is clearly not proceeding to second base. 5.3 Runners must stay roughly within the initial base line. Fielders must stay out of the base line. Fielders trying to make an out on base may have their foot on base, but must lean out of the baseline. Runners hindered by any fielder within the base line shall be safe at the base to which they were running. 5.4 When rounding for an additional base the base path is determined by a six foot width (three foot either way from initial path) 5.5 Hitting a runner with the ball above shoulder level is not allowed. Any runner hit above the shoulders is safe and advances to the base they were attempting to obtain. Ex. If the runner dodges into a throw or intentionally uses the head to block the ball, and will then be called out by the Umpire 5.6 Once a kicked fly ball is initially contacted runners may advance, if the runner had left the base initially and then they must tag their original base before running to the next base. If the runner has not moved before the ball is caught, the runner may simply run forward without a tag up. 5.7 When the ball is in play and is overthrown (beyond the boundary lines) the ball is dead. In all cases when this happens, all runners will be awarded two bases (base moving toward plus one) from where they were at the time the throw was made.
