Men’s Ministry Our next Men’s Breakfast is Saturday, November 21 at 8:30AM at the church office (1312 Matthews Mint Hill Road, Matthews, NC 28105). We've asked Fr. Filmore to share God's guidance of All Saints up to the present, and some thoughts for us men as we move together into the future. You won't want to miss this. Bring your Bible and a friend. Warmly, Bryan Friesen

For the Men's Ministry Team (MMT)

Dear parish family, Last Sunday a visitor said, "this is the first time I have been down south, so seeing you clergy guys in white robes was a bit unsettling! Why do you wear them?" I also get questions like, "If you guys are Anglican, why do you dress like Catholics and preach like Baptists? And, "When do we know when to cross ourselves if we want to?" One great way to answer these questions is to conduct an Instructed Eucharist. This is a regular Sunday Communion service with this difference: instead of a sermon I will stop at intervals to explain why we do what we do. I usually take a few questions along the way so I can be sure to address any issues that need clarifying. Most folks- even the long time Anglicans- have questions about the liturgy and find this service helpful. Next Sunday I will lead an Instructed Eucharist at the regular 9:30 time. Please be there so we can all learn together. I hope it will make our worship richer. Blessings always, Filmore+

S.C. Flood Relief

Prayers for National Life (Author Rev. George Lyman Locke, Pub. 1883)

Many thanks to everybody at All Saints, we were able to send a total of $2,665.00 to the Anglican Relief and Development Fund for S.C. Flood Relief. I know our hurting brothers and sisters in S.C. really appreciate your gifts.

God Bless, Jan Smith, Advocate Anglican Relief and Development Fund

For our Country Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Worship Fully. Spend Less. Give More. Love All. This year ALL the families of ASAC will once again take part in the Advent Conspiracy. (The Conspiracy: A plan to work and act together to change in a positive way, how we celebrate Christmas.) For many of us, the Advent season leading up to Christmas is not the happiest time of the year. “We lament at seeing the holiday push start earlier and earlier each year. For many, the holidays bring anxiety over busy schedules, and spending money we don’t have for things no one really needs.” It’s full of expectations that aren’t being met and many of us find that when we reach the end of the Advent season instead of a “joyful” expectation, we are aching with emptiness. Our soul longs for MORE. So, if Christmas is only about gifts, decorations, parties, spending and buying, then these feelings make sense. Nothing will ever be enough and there will always be disappointment. Thankfully, that’s NOT what Christmas is about. Christmas is not about us, it’s all JESUS. Sunday, November 22, ASAC will launch this year’s Advent Conspiracy plan. This plan includes ways we can: Worship Fully – because Christmas begins and ends with Jesus Spend Less – and free your resources for things that truly matter. Take 10% of what you had planned to spend on gifts and give that 10% to either give it to the ICA children in Peru OR to Love for the Least. Give More – of your presence: your hands, your words, your time, your heart! Love All – the poor, the forgotten, the marginalized, the sick, in ways that make a difference. Be sure to stop by the Advent Resource table, which is located in the hallway by the entrance to the cafeteria and Camp DIT for more details. Let the Conspiracy begin!!!
