October 9, 2017 Both Schools are “Fully Accreditied” by the Arkansas Department of Education. The current enrollment of the Alpena School District is 524 students. This represents an increase of 15 students from the 2016-17 school year. 260 of these students are female and 260 are male. 45 are here through Legal Transfers and 22 are here by School Choice. We currently have 64% of our students who are receiving free or reduced meals. 1.34% of our students are in our Alternative Education Program. 8.4% are in our Gifted and Talented Program. 12.4% receive Special Education services.
CTE 7 Programs of Study in 3 Career Pathways on campus with a total of 26 completers and 12 Microsoft Certifications.
Dyslexia Information - We had 21 K-6th graders receive dyslexia interventions during the 2016-2017 school year. There are also 4 7-12th grade students receiving these services. We are using Fundations and the Wilson Reading System.
Test scores were at or above state averages and showed growth among students in both elementary and high school.
We offer Advanced Placement courses in all 4 English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. We also offer Concurrent Credit through Arkansas Tech University.
STATE FUNDING EXPENDITURES Last year we received $4,182,246.84 in State and Local funding. $3,041,390.22 was spent on employee salary and benefits. $118,528.50 was spent on bonded debt. $378,951.90 on Maintenance and Operation. $203,268.59 on Transportation. $234,595.03 on Food Service.

FEDERAL FUNDING EXPENDITURES We also received federal grants totaling $394,459.43. We spent $254,843.44 of that in employee salaries and benefits. We spent 8,052.92 on professional training, $99,886.26 on technology, and another $8,641.99 went into the library, nurse, counseling and campus safety. We carried over $23,034.82 of our allotment to this year.
All of our School Board members are current on training requirements and are working hard to be sure that our students get the best education possible. . Our Annual Report will be available on the District website if you would like to view this information in more detail.
