Some parts of the Maiden’s Quiver Tree’s range are affected by mining activities and overgrazing by livestock, and there are few signs of regeneration from the damage caused in these areas. Additionally, this aloe species may be threatened by global climate change as average temperatures in the region have increased over past centuries, and the tree may not be able to adapt or shift in distribution at a rate fast enough to survive. The Maiden’s Quiver Tree is listed under Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES), meaning that international trade in this species should be carefully monitored and controlled. Parts of this species’ range fall within the Richtersveld-Nationalpark, which is also a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site.
