American Heart Association HeartCode – Basic Life Support On-line and Skills Testing Directions PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION: YOU MUST TAKE THE HeartCode BLS IF YOU TAKE ANY OTHER OPTION, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY AGAIN AND REPEAT TRAINING Welcome to HeartCode BLS Online – an online course that is self-directed and can be completed at work or home, followed by a hands-on skills practice and testing session. It is a flexible training option can be for firsttime or renewal certification. Students first complete a 1 to 2 hour online lesson, print the certificate to take to the skills practice and testing session, and then meet with an AHA instructor for skills practice and testing. What is the process for taking this course? • Obtain access to the HeartCode BLS Online Part 1 course by obtaining a key by direct purchase from American Heart website (www.onlineaha.org) ……see below • Complete all checkpoints. • Complete the online test. • Print Part 1 Certificate of Completion • Present certificate verifying completion of Part 1 to the AHA BLS Instructor who will conduct the skills practice and testing sessions • Complete the skills practice and testing sessions • After successful completion of the online course and skills practice and testing sessions, a Provider card will be issued by the AHA BLS Training Center. How do I start? •You purchase a key by logging onto http://www.onlineaha.org/ 1. Choose “Find a Course” 2. Choose “Healthcare Professionals” 3. Choose “HeartCode BLS” - put a 1 in the quantity box and Add to Cart 4. Select Checkout. You will be provided a “key” after you make your payment of $28.50 5. Go back to “Welcome to “OnlineAHA!” page and under “Activate Key” place “Course key” to start course. PRINT CERTIFICATE AND BRING TO TESTING SITE FOR PRACTICUM TESTING OF SKILLS. YOU CAN NOT TEST UNLESS YOU HAVE THE CERTIFICATE. Note: After a key is activated, you will be able to re-enter the course at anytime using your registered email and password.
