1. How did you create your artwork? Firstly I painted the backgrounds on my fabric, added layering of sewing with various coloured cotton, found objects, cut up road signs, researched other culture symbols,

2. What different materials and processes did you use? Fabric, paint, ink, wire, road signs, found objects

3. What inspired your artwork? My inspiration was my hometown and the problems that I found were so visible to me as I was growing up through my teenage years. and also myself and the feeling I had in waiting to leave the grasp of a small town. my influencing artists were Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Rosalie Gascoigne, Fiona Foley, Narelle Jubelin, Anselm Kiefer, Sue Ford and Russell Drysdale.

4. How did you first react upon hearing that you were accepted into ARTEXPRESS? Surprised! I didn’t think my artwork would have made it beyond my eyes

5. Will you continue art beyond school? Of course I will it is one of my biggest passions

6. What are your top 5 tips for this year’s Year 12 Visual Art students? • Don’t leave things too late • Listen to your classmates and teachers ideas they are also artists and can help • Think before you do • never give up on your ideas • don’t be careless Contributed by Andrea Williamson
