Angelina Jolie Finally Opens Up About Her Divorce And Shares That It Was A 'Difficult Time' Celebrities Hollywood super couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt shocked their fans worldwide when it became public knowledge in September 2016 that Angelina had indeed filed for divorce. As we all know it did not take very long, after the official divorce announcement, for the rumors, speculations and gossip to start flaring up. However, both Pitt and Jolie remained rather mum regarding their split. In fact, Angelina not only decided to remain silent, but pretty much disappeared out of the public eye as well, that is up until now.
Her first public appearance (since the split)
Angelina Jolie made her first public appearance since splitting up with her husband of two years, Brad Pitt, on
Saturday at a screening of her new movie, First They Killed My Father.
A family affair
According to an article by Lara Martin for The Daily Mirror, Jolie’s six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox accompanied her to the screening of the film, which was held in Cambodia.
An exclusive interview:
Before the screening of her film, Angelina Jolie chose to do an exclusive interview with The BBC regarding the film.
The movie itself
According to an article written by the BBC based on the interview, the movie entitled First they Killed My Father, is “a true-life account of the Khmer Rouge genocide through the eyes of a child.” The article then went on to say that “She [Jolie] said she hoped the film, which she directed, would help Cambodians to speak more openly about the trauma of the period.”
The question that made her open up...
On a recording of the above mentioned BBC interview (which can be viewed within the written article online), journalist Yalda Hakim (left on the image above) can be seen asking Jolie if she had anything to say regarding her separation [from Brad].
A tearful reply
Angelina then, with tears in her eyes, can be seen letting out a little sigh and replying, “I don’t want to say very much about that, except that it was a very difficult time.” She then goes on to add, “And we are a family and we will always be a family. We will get through this and hopefully be a stronger family."
What about Brad?
Unlike Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt has for the most part not really shied away from public appearances. According to E-Online, “Pitt had made his first celebrity appearance about two months after Jolie filed divorce papers. He attended a screening of the now Oscar-nominated film Moonlight, which he co-produced, and was later spotted at an event for his new movie Allied.”
