WORLD FORUM IN ACTION NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2011 EXCHANGE
Visitors to the World Forum Foundation
Yasmina Vinci and husband Bob Manning visited to discuss Head Start, Exchange, World Forum Voices of Hope for Children Impacted by HIV/AIDS, and life. Kay Albrecht stopped in at the World Forum Foundation offices to discuss future articles for Exchange and future topics for World Forum.
Claire Warden arrived from Scotland to talk about big ideas for the World Forum. Claire Warden and members of the World Forum team took the opportunity of her visit to not only brainstorm about how Claire’s organization, Mindstretchers, might support the work of the World Forum Foundation, but also to check out local early childhood and nature education activities. Bonnie, Kirsten Haugen, and Carole White took Claire to visit the Oxbow Center for Sustainable Agriculture and the Environment and the Wilderness Awareness School, both outside of Seattle where they met with Sarah Cassidy and John Chilkotowsky. Then everyone went to Exchange author Ann Pelo’s cabin to celebrate the Fall Equinox. Bonnie, Scott Bilstad, and Claire also visited programs in Seattle. Ann Pelo arranged a visit to Hilltop Children’s Center where Meg McNulty and Sarah Felstiner took us on a tour of their new facility and talked about children, documentation, and spaces. Tara Katz, director of Tara’s Tots and Fremont Community School, joined the visit to Hilltop and then brought everyone to visit her program. Provocative discussion followed. Bonnie and Claire agreed that it’s wonderful to work in a profession where programs can be different, yet good, and where quality can be offered in many diverse ways.
Nancy and John Rosenow came to discuss the Nature Action Collaborative for Children and options for the World Forum Foundation sustainability.
