LEARN FROM SOO GREYHOUNDS COACHES AND PLAYERS!
The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is proud to invite you to our “Annual Hockey School” to be held July 23 to July 27, 2012 at the John Rhodes Community Centre. We welcome all caliber of players and provide a fun week of hockey development. Our instructors are actual hockey coaches and hockey players who are currently at the Jr. A, College or Professional level. They know the importance of fundamental skill development and have the natural ability to teach and demonstrate each activity. We will keep the instructor to student ratio low enough to ensure individual instruction. All students will participate in daily power skating sessions and dry land exercises. Students will have the time to ask questions and get answers. For younger players, our Staff will assist those who need to help tying their skates and putting on their equipment. Our daily schedule starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m. OUR STAFF INCLUDES: -‐ Seamus Kotyk (Soo Greyhounds Goalie Coach) -‐ Sandra Findlay (Soo Greyhounds Power Skating Coach) -‐ Present Day Greyhound Players Plus

Fun week of hockey instruction Daily power skating instructions .. use of inside and outside edges .. proper techniques for forward and backward skating .. maximizing balance, power and agility Fundamental puck handling skills with emphasis on stick handling, passing and receiving the puck Proper techniques for wrist, backhand, snap and slap shots Where to shoot on goalies Skating agility with and without the puck, b alance, power and speed, correct skating technique Board safety issues .. hitting from behind, staying away from danger zones and respecting your opponent Approachable instructors who love the game of hockey and want to teach younger players the fundamentals while h aving fun and enjoying the sport Individual p rizes to students at the end of the week Introduction to proper off-‐ice training and conditioning
