This year, the school’s leadership (in both the Athletic Department and among student leadership groups) devoted themselves to the theme of “Eagle Pride.” This theme revolves around far more than winning and losing. Its core tenets are teamwork, integrity and ethics. By focusing with these premises in mind, our student body has displayed tremendous sportsmanship while
maintaining a positive experience for all student athletes.

of teamwork and unity that can be gleaned from interscholastic sports. Through this event, over $7000 was raised and donated to the “Tackle Cancer” fund. By
promoting “teamwork”, not only with members of their immediate team but with members of their community, Eagle Pride was on display throughout the fall.

Integrity and Ethics -- A Tragedy Brings Together Two Schools The loss of Lakeville North junior Alyssa Ettl struck home for students at AVHS There are experiences in life that words cannot reflect. While all loss brings sadness and challenges for those who loved the person, the loss of a young and vibrant high school student can be devastating. When Lakeville North High School student Alyssa Ettl died in a car accident, Apple Valley High School students leaped into action. They reached

out to their neighbors at another school, trying to provide comfort in their time of loss. At many sporting events during this difficult time, they lead the way with signs of remembrance and moments of silence. Members of the AVHS Captains Council did all of this without the prompting or direction from adults. They did this because they are students of integrity. Alyssa was an athlete and an honor student. In her, many of our students saw themselves. They
honored her life and her school simply by showing they cared.
“What a wonderful tribute to Alyssa! As the parent of a Lakeville North student, I can tell you that this is hitting the students and staff at the school very hard. Seeing a tribute that's so well done, from people that didn't know h e r, i s t o u c h i n g a n d impressive.”
