Instructions for: General Graduate Scholarship For advanced study in Ship Hydrodynamics and Wave Theory Application Guidelines and Procedures: 1. Open to U.S., Canadian and International applicants who are members of SNAME, or another recognized marine society. 2. Society membership is required not less than four months prior to the application submission deadline (i.e. October 1 st). 3. Awards are made for one year of study leading to a Master’s Degree in naval architecture/marine engineering/ocean engineering. 4. Applicants must not receive their Master Degree prior to April 15th of the academic year for which the scholarship applies. 5. A graduate scholarship for NA/ME/OE will be awarded to an individual only once. 6. An application may be obtained by downloading from the SNAME web site. 7. Application and all required supporting information, except for letters of reference, are to be submitted electronically. 8. The application must be received prior to February 1st with all supporting data by February 15th for Scholarships Committee review. 9. Recipient selection will be in March/April based upon Scholarships Committee recommendations and Executive Committee approval. 10. Scholarship funds may be used for student tuition, textbooks and academic fees, or other academically related expenses in pursuit ofstudy or research. 11. Special circumstances will be considered in situations where strict compliance with requirements is not possible. Key Criteria: 1) U.S. and Canadian applicants may study in the U.S., Canada, or abroad in approved institutions. 2) International applicants must study in U.S. or Canadian institutions. 3) Evidence of superior academic achievement and motivation for advanced study of ship hydrodynamics and wave theory. Scholarship Value
1)
Up to $6,000 for one year of full-time study for the named scholarship.
