Changes within the First Press You  have  noticed  by  now  that  FPC’s  Monthly  Newsletter  looks  differently  this  month   and  there  is  a  reason  for  that.    After  many  years  of  gathering,  compiling,  and  preparing   the  newsletter,  Louise  Coleman  has  determined  she  is  at  a  place  in  life  where  she   should  spend  more  time  on  her  business  and  her  family.    Louise  has  graciously  and   generously  spent  15-20  hours  each  month  to  give  us  news,  pictures,  dates,  and   announcements    -  all  at  no  cost  to  the  church.    To  say  “Thank  You”  seems  rather   inadequate  for  all  the  hours  and  years  she  has  done  this.     This  change  puts  us  into  a  period  of  transition  with  our  methods  of  communication.    We   are  trying  to  determine  the  most  effective  ways  to  communicate  with  the  congregation   and  friends,  as  well  as  the  outside  world  who  may  be  interested  in  knowing  more  about   our  church.

Process For Churches Who Are Calling New Pastoral Leadership In Charleston-Atlantic Presbytery When a church is searching for a new pastor or associate pastor, the Presbytery gives us steps we must follow to accomplish the task. For the purpose of transparency, here are the abbreviated steps that we are charged with following. After being voted in by the congregation, the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (APNC) attends as orientation and training session to learn about the process presented by our liaison from the Presbytery, Donnie Woods. Donnie Woods assists the APNC in completing the Church Information Form (CIF) in light of data gathered by the APNC. The purpose of the CIF is to describe the church so that a prospective pastor can clearly understand the church. The CIF must be approved by the Senior Pastor and Session. Once the CIF is approved “matches” with Personal Informational Forms (PIF’s) of prospective pastors are PDGHE\3UHVE\WHU\VWDII$OOUHIHUUDOVPXVWEHIRUZDUGHGWKURXJKWRWKH3UHVE\WHU\RIÀFHIRUFOHDUDQFH APNC reviews PIFs of “matched” candidates, and if selected, interviews prospective candidates. When the APNC has agreed to call a prospective pastor it shall: Provide the Presbytery liaison (Donnie Woods) with all the information it has gathered regarding its choice, including the terms of call agreed upon with the prospective pastor. 2) Provide a written statement setting forth the reasons the APNC thinks this particular pastor would be the right person for the church. The Senior Pastor, Session, and Personnel Committee will be involved in this process. The APNC, Dick Lovett, Jeremy Taylor, Joe Noll, Amy Fallon, and AK Harper invite you to share your thoughts about this process with all of us.
