Great Meeting Flight # 48 THE CAPTAIN’S CORNER: Harley H. Pope Flight #48 had a fantastic turnout for the March meeting. We inducted two new members and completed two applications for an additional two new members. Wow!!! I believe that the flight has an impressive place to meet, with outstanding food and service, and most all great friendship. Recently, our guest speakers have been exceptional and have informed the flight with past aviation history and a sense that it is great to have been or currently a military aviator. I will do my best to continue with great programs. If you have someone you would like to hear, please let me know. It has been mentioned that we should have nostalgic night. I agree! Maybe, May or June. COLONEL DAVID M. ROEDER, USAF, Retired was a polished speaker and captured the attention for all attending. I want to thank Col Roeder for his service. The Flight voted to donate $500 to the Ft. Bragg Chapter of the Military Order of the
Purple Heart. The donation to be designated and split between two programs: Home for Christmas Fund ($250) and the Warrior Relief Fund ($250). We presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Terry Sanford High School AFJROTC for their support in mailing out the Daedalian Medals to JROTC Units in North Carolina and Tennessee.
Still waiting on the North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame in Asheboro, North Carolina to see if they would like to display our Flights Memorabilia. Their Web site: http://www.ncaviationmuseumhalloffame.com/ Our Guest Speakers will be the two Cadets that will receive $1000 Scholarship from the flight. We are asking them to speak about themselves, their interest in flying and what their future plans might be. I know these two Cadets will make this flight very proud. Don’t miss it. Old Business Open discussion and vote for our Flight to select and sponsor one JROTC Cadet in the CFI program which National helps with some funding support. Daedalian Meeting: Thursday, April 24, 2014. 6:00 Cocktails; Salad, water, and wine at 6:30; entrees at 6:45.
