Host Conference

pacific west conference

THE BACK-UP IS EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS THE STARTER. about the pacific west The Pacific West Conference is the most unique and dynamic athletics conference in NCAA Division II. With 14 member institutions in California, Hawaii and Utah and 15 sponsored sports for men and women, the PacWest is the largest and most beautiful conference in the West Region. Established in 1992, the PacWest has gone through many different incarnations. After several schools broke off to form another conference in 2001, the PacWest was on the verge of anonymity, but held strong to become the driving force it is today. Since 2005, 10 of the current members have joined the PacWest, either from the NAIA or as new departments, to create competitive balance and new levels of athletics achievement. In spite of all of the change, the focus has always remained on the student-athlete experience. The PacWest embraces the ideals of Division II by fostering the athletics and academic pursuits of its student-athletes with a balanced lifestyle and focus on preparing for life after college. The future holds many bright possibilities for the conference and its members. NCAA.COM

Champions in competition. Champions in life. What made them great student-athletes makes them great employees

E

Statistics

very day, millions of former student-athletes from 1,100 NCAA schools prove the value of college sports, using what they learned in the classroom and on the field. Former college athletes excel as leaders in all walks of life, across diverse professions throughout the global workforce. Celebrating this remarkable community, NCAA After the Game highlights the success these former student-athletes are having in post-collegiate careers and showcases how their experiences in college played a significant role in those achievements. And to help them win in their biggest game of all — life — NCAA After the Game provides professional networking opportunities through a career center tailored for former student-athletes.

W

elcome to the 2018 spring championships. Whatever the sport, a championship is often viewed as the final test for a college athlete, reached through determination and intense preparation. But in college athletics, the stakes are much more than a single victory. While we are proud of achievements on fields and courts, we also celebrate the pathway to opportunity that college sports provides for nearly half a million student-athletes. College athletics is more than a game, a tournament or a season. It is an experience from which these young men and women will grow and succeed throughout the rest of their lives. As an association, we have worked hard, together, to improve opportunities for student-athletes over the last five years. And we are not done. We’re working hard to ensure we create as many opportunities as possible for college athletes. For the vast majority, that equals a college degree and a professional career in something other than sports. It also means that in everything we do, we remain focused on academics, protecting the well-being of student-athletes and promoting fairness. This championship season, we celebrate what is best about college sports and recognize students for their achievements in and outside of competition. And, most importantly, we applaud these students not only for the wins today, but for what follows in their lives. Enjoy the championship.

College athletics is more than a game, a tournament or a season. It is an experience from which these young men and women will grow and succeed throughout the rest of their lives. NCAA.COM
