GREETINGS Houston Youth Lacrosse (HYLAX) and the South Campus Sports Association (SCSA) welcome you to the 2017 Greater Houston Youth Lacrosse Association (GHYLA) Championship Tournament. 12 teams from 5th and 6th grade division, 12 teams from the 7th and 8th grade division, and 6 teams from the 7th grade division will play a combined total of 27 games in two days. From 8:00AM until 8:00PM on Saturday, teams will compete on 4 fields; and the City Championships will be decided on Sunday on 3 fields from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. All of the competition will occur at 3600 West Bellfort Ave., Houston, TX 77025. The South Campus gates will open at 6:45AM on Saturday morning and 11:45AM on Sunday morning. On the following pages of this program, we have included maps, schedules, brackets, safety notes, and other useful information about the tournament. South Campus has ample parking, but we encourage all tournament participants to carpool as much as possible. Please park in the main gravel lot east of the playing fields. There will be additional parking in the paved lot west of the Pit field. The parking lot just south of the Concession Stand is reserved ONLY for HYLAX officials, sponsors with passes, and referees. We ask that all teams please set up their tents in the designated Team Areas. Please note that pets are not allowed on the South Campus property. On Saturday the Concession Stand will be open with breakfast, lunch, snacks, water, Gatorade, and soft drinks. On Sunday, it will not be open for breakfast; but it will be open just before and during the championship games. We will only be able to accept cash at the Concession Stand. We ask that all spectators watch the games from the bleacher side of each field. We encourage enthusiasm and cheering, but please respect your fellow spectators, the players, and the officials. Honor our great game of lacrosse. Medical staff, security personnel, and a multitude of volunteers will be on site assisting with the tournament. In the event of an emergency, please find a GHYLA or HYLAX official, or go to the Concession Stand for help. We congratulate all the teams that are competing in the tournament, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers and the sponsors for this year’s tournament, especially Memorial Hermann Ironman Sports Medicine for supplying the trainers. South Campus at 3600 West Bellfort is located near the southwest part of the 610 Loop. The fields are located on the north side of West Bellfort, just west of South Main.

SOUTH CAMPUS MAP Please park in the Main Parking area east of the playing fields. Additional parking will be available just west of the Pit field. The central parking area just south of the Concession Stand is ONLY for HYLAX officials, sponsors with passes, and referees. Please set up team tents in the designated Team Areas and behind the end line netting. Bleachers are located on the west sideline of each field. Please view the games from the west side of the fields only. If the fields must be cleared in the case of stormy weather, all tournament attendees must return to their vehicles and remain in their vehicles until notified by tournament officials. FASTEST SHOT COMPETITION From 9:00AM to 3:30PM on Saturday, April 29th, the Fastest Shot Competition will occur on the south side of the Vollmer Wall, west of the Concession Stand and South of Flores Field. This contest will clock the fasted shot amongst competitors from the 5th- 6th Grade Division, 7th Grade Division, and 8th Grade Division. Fastest Shot Competition Rules: Contestants must be a player on a GHYLA team and enter the division in which he played this season. 3 dollars purchase 3 shots per player. Payment must be made in cash. Fastest shot in the goal counts. Start no further than 12 yards; shoot no closer than 8 yards (feet may not cross 8 yard line prior to ball being released or shot is disqualified). In case of tie for 1st place in a division, tiebreaker shootout will be held. Contestants will start no further than 16 yards; shoot no closer than 12 yards; if tie still exists, the contestants will be moved further from goal. One first prize will be given for the fastest shot in each division. First prize is a new lacrosse stick: one-of-kind custom dyed head, mesh, and shaft. All Fastest Shot contestants will receive a coupon for 15% off from Lacrosse Unlimited.

GHYLA CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT PERFORMANCE T-SHIRTS Performance t-shirts will be sold at the tournament while supplies last. This year’s shirts come in two colors – blue or white. Blue shirts are available for $25 and white shirts for $20. Please make payment in cash or by check payable to HYLAX. We cannot accept credit cards.

SAFETY NOTES, PARKING, AND FACILITIES HYLAX places the utmost importance on safety. Please be aware of your surroundings at the lacrosse tournament. Lacrosse balls are made of hard rubber, and they can travel at high speeds off of the field of play during games. We ask all tournament attendees to please stick to the paths and walkways at South Campus. Do not walk along the end lines of the lacrosse fields. When walking along the end area of any lacrosse field, always keep the tall black safety net between yourself and the field of play. At the Fastest Shot Competition, please respect the caution ropes. Spectators may watch games only from the bleacher side of the field. In the event of stormy weather, three sustained blasts of the air horn will signal the stoppage of all tournament activity, at which point all tournament attendees must return to their respective vehicles to await further instruction. If you see anything that gives you pause with regard to general or personal safety, please notify a HYLAX or GHYLA official. Tournament parking is available primarily at the Main Gravel Parking Lot to the east of the field. There is additional parking to the west of the Pit field. We encourage all tournament attendees to carpool as much as possible. The small parking lot south of the Concession Stand is for HYLAX officials, sponsors with passes, referees, and vehicles with disability placards. In no circumstance can the small parking lot be used for player drop off. Restrooms and water fountains are on the east side of the Concession Stand building. Garbage bins and Recycling bins are located throughout the South Campus property.
