Dear Lady Hornet Softball Alumni, Please join us October 14-15 for our annual Alumni Weekend! We would love for you to reunite with old friends and share with our new players what it means to be a Lady Hornet! We have planned an alumni home run derby, alumni game, and Homecoming football game tailgate for all to come back and enjoy! We pride ourselves on being a Hornet family, so we hope your new families and parents or guardians can attend as well! Just please note how many on the attached reservation sheet (we only ask that if you have more than two people, a $5 donation be made to help cover the cost of food). The home run derby will be on Friday, October 14th, starting at 6:30pm. We will have drinks and pizza for alumni afterward. On October 15th at 8:00am, fellow alum, Melissa Stevens (2003-2006), will be inducted into the ESU Hall of Honor during the Athletic Hall of Honor Breakfast. Tickets can be purchased here for that event: https://hornetnation.emporia.edu/homecoming. At 10:30am, we will play our alumni game, and immediately following, we will head to Welch Stadium for an alumni tailgate of the ESU football team’s Homecoming game against Lindenwood University! We have high expectations for this year’s team (the 44th in ESU Softball history) and hope that you will help instill the core values and lessons you learned as a Lady Hornet while you are here. If we have enough alumni return, I’d like to match you with a current Lady Hornet so they can get to know you and learn about the attitude and effort it takes to be one of the top teams in the country. We believe this will be a significant step in the process of attaining our goals this season. As was mentioned above, we pride ourselves on family. We believe, “Once a Hornet, Always a Hornet.” It is with this in mind that we will be taking donations all weekend to help raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer in memory of Lindsay Sharp. Lindsay lost her battle on Thursday, September 22, 2016, and is the sister of Hornet alum, Lauren (Sharp) Klumpe (2010-2013). Our alumni shirts will include a teal ribbon this year. We ask that you please return the attached reservation sheet by October 7th.
