The Definition of A.R.C. In order to really understand how our minds and bodies work, it is important to analyze this in the form of energy. Since according to Einstein’s famous quote “everything is energy”, A-R-C represents the three key fields of energy that interact with each other and contribute to how we create our outcomes; Activity, Relationship and Context. The ARC model helps us identify how to focus and direct the body– mind-spirit energy to create more of what we want.

Activity This is what we do and how we do it. This is the energy of action. When we set our goals, make plans, map out strategies and take action all of that happens in the field of Activity Energy. This field’s energy is the type of energy we normally think about when we think about creating results. It is the field of our five senses, we can feel it, see it and it can easily be measured, like how many boxes were shipped, memos written, miles walked, calories consumed etc. This is the dominant domain of the current worldview of how we create outcomes. You do more, you get more. Activity is and always will be an important field of energy. And while it is extremely necessary, it is by no means sufficient. It’s not just about doing more. It’s increasing leverage to create extraordinary impact by consciously working with the other two fields of Relationship and Context. We increase our leverage to truly create extraordinary impact by consciously working with the other two fields of Relationship and Context.

Relationship Relationship energy is the energy created in the process of sharing and exchanging energy. It is how the two energy fields effect each other. When the wave patterns of each energy field is aligned with each other we see the combined energy being amplified. This is what we call synergy and the energy applied to outcomes is amplified. Imagine walking into a room where everyone is excited about a new project, brainstorming together, acknowledging each other’s contributions and adding to their ideas. You can feel the energy buzzing around the room. That’s synergy. Most of us have had some experience of being is such an environment, hopefully, you’ve felt it and been part of its creation. It’s a totally different feeling when a team is supposedly working together but they each have their own agenda, trying to look better, get more recognition, or control the outcome. Here the different fields of energy are competing with each other and in fact diminishing or attenuating the total energy applied to the outcomes. Seldom does a group with competing energy fields win. Look at our political parties and you can easily understand why the government isn’t more effective.

Context Perhaps the best way to think of Context is as the energy of meaning and purpose. It is what resonates deeply within us, what might be called the core of our being or our heart song. Part of this energy comes with us when we are born and part of it begins to collect as we grow. Think of the part we are born with, as the seed of our being. While the part that comes from our growing, as the container we form to express the seed’s energy. www.quantumleaders.com (800)884-4087

Context is like the container that holds our energy and gives form to our lives. The shape of the container is defined by our stories, which we also call our worldview. Everything flows from Context. It is the defining field that sets what is possible and what is not. It defines the types of relationships we have, the choices we will make and the actions we will take in response to life. The context field amplifies everything we do and the relationships we have. If you want to ease the flow of energy in your life, focus your relationships and activities to align with your context.

Here is a useful formula that brings all three elements into one created for your reference:

Impact = (A * R2)C Here is an illustration of how the A-R-C Technology works in the Living Organization.

So there you have it. The A-R-C Technology, a new map for understanding the forces underlying success and failure. We believe the model can serve as a guide for improving your performance as a leader and the performance of your organization. Want to know more?
