Arizona-Alabama Notes 



Arizona earned an 88-82 victory in the first-ever regular season meeting between the two programs. The Wildcats and Crimson Tide had previously met in the 1985 and 1990 NCAA Tournaments. Saturday’s win advanced UA’s non-conference home winning streak to 45 games. The 45 consecutive victories is the second longest such streak in the nation and the longest in Arizona Basketball history. The sold out crowd versus Alabama was the second of the season in McKale Center out of five home games. Arizona’s average home crowd this season is 14,142, which leads the Pac-12 Conference.

On Deandre Ayton…   

Tallied 29 points and 18 rebounds, which were season highs for the freshman. The 18 rebounds tied for the fourth most by a Arizona freshman, joining Aaron Gordon in 2013-14 and Al Fleming in 1972-73. Ayton’s 18 boards were the most by any Wildcat since Aaron Gordon grabbed 18 rebounds versus Wisconsin in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

On Parker Jackson-Cartwright… 

Recorded five assists with zero turnovers in win over Alabama, giving the senior 23 assists to just five turnovers in his last five games (4.6 assist-to-turnover ratio).

On Allonzo Trier…   

 

Finished with 25 points for the game while shooting just 4/6 from the field. 20 of the guard’s 25 points came in the second half. Trier’s 14-of-16 shooting at the free throw line matched his career high for made free throws and set a new career mark in attempts. Trier was 14 of 14 at the charity stripe against Bradley as a freshman. The junior has scored 20 or more points in seven of his team’s ten games this season. He had eclipsed the 20-point mark 11 times in his first 45 career appearances. His six assists were one off his career high but eclipsed his season high by two assists.
