It seemed like a good idea at the time. Do my SoFoBoMo book during a vacation in West Texas. We’d been before but there were a host of places I hadn’t seen or photographed. I hadn’t accounted for the temperature being over 110F for a few of the days. Nor did I really consider camping in that heat, or staying at B&Bs without air–conditioning. West Texas is beautiful. A harsh, hard country but beautiful. You might have to work to find it, getting up before the sunrise, pushing through brush that cuts, scratches, pricks and tries to hurt you at every turn, but there is peace and beauty to be found out there. It’s said that if it isn’t trying to stick, prick or bite you, then it is probably a rock. These pictures were taken over the course of a week, driving Amanda around the (Big) bend. I’m ever thankful that she puts up with me and my crazy notions when waving a camera around.
