At the bottom of the case, there is a power supply with various plugs attached…
…one plug (male), is to be plugged into a wall outlet…
…one plug (female), labeled “DIMMER”, is for plugging in a lamp…
…two plugs (female), labeled “HOT”, are for plugging in an alarm clock, cellphone charger, etc…
…the plug labeled “DIMMER” is connected to a metal-strip at the top back of the nightstand…when the metal-strip is touched, if a lamp is plugged into the “DIMMER” plug, it will turn the lamp ON…when the metal-strip is touched again, it will turn the lamp OFF…if using a 3-way bulb, the bulb will cycle through each level of brightness with each touch of the metal-strip (i.e., dimmer function).
