54th Annual Math Workshop for K-8 Educators Sunday, June 26 - Thursday, June 30, 2016 • Fay School, Southborough, MA About the Program The Math Workshop is an intensive, invigorating, interactive five-day experience where you will be a learner and teacher-researcher as you extend your own mathematical understanding as part of your role as curriculum facilitator and developer. We welcome experienced teachers as well as teachers who are about to lead their own classroom for the first time. It does not matter if your school uses a set curriculum or if you are developing your own: our workshop will bolster both your teaching and your program. All participants return to their schools energized by the workshop experience. Enjoy the breathtaking Fay School campus in Southborough, Massachusetts, and spend mealtimes talking with colleagues about new ideas and extensions of old ones. This week-long workshop will focus on: • Seeing how manipulatives foster a greater understanding of mathematical concepts. • Realizing and validating that there are multiple ways of solving problems. • Using arithmetic and computation as a by-product of a rich problem solving curriculum. • Incorporating the NCTM and the Common Core Standards in the classroom. • Preparing your students to feel confident in approaching new challenges. • Exploring new models of assessment. • Thinking about how to meet the needs of a wide range of students. • Studying mathematics including probability, numbers, geometry, logic, measurement, and pattern. • Team-building activities. Workshop fee: $1,175.00 Includes all classes, trips, refreshments, and meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) served in the Fay School Dining Room. Accommodations at Doubletree Hotel in Westborough, MA We have reserved a limited number of rooms at a reduced rate. Register online at mathscienceworkshops.fayschool.org
