“This is a good school” OfSTED Inspection – June 2014 23rd June 2014
Dear Parents & Carers
I am delighted to be sending home a copy of the recent OfSTED Inspection report for Queensmead Primary Academy. The inspection team agreed with our own assessment that Queensmead is a good school. Only two years ago our predecessor school was served a ‘notice to improve’ – yet two years on we are judged to be good! This is a fantastic achievement and one to be celebrated. For many years our predecessor schools suffered poor performance and this was something that needed addressing and quickly. When I started here in 2010 I promised you that by us all working together that we could achieve this as your children deserved it. There have been many factors in the rapid improvement. Clear and consistent leadership, good teaching, employing more teachers for smaller English and Maths groups, exciting curriculum, improved attendance, committed staff, academy conversion and relevant support and challenge from the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust – the list goes on.
Outcome The main findings of the report are that Queensmead Primary Academy is a good school. However, the text in the report reads much better than that! We have been graded Good for Overall Effectiveness. The report also grades the four separate areas for Queensmead as follows: Achievement – Good Quality of Teaching – Good Behaviour & Safety – Good Leadership & Management – Good You will also see in the report some priorities about how we can improve. The amazing thing now is that our priorities are about how can become ‘outstanding’! These will form the basis of our next Academy Development Plan. On behalf of the whole team from Queensmead I hope that you enjoy reading this report as much as we have and that you too can see the goodness that our wonderful academy provides. We have gone from strength to strength and no one should underestimate the hard work and dedication of the entire Queensmead community to get us to this point today.
