Perhaps years of Top Gear has turned square mile off the idea of electric transport (and bikes), and given us the idea that anything with an electric motor is only capable of gliding 25ft before gradually powering down. Audi’s e-bike Wörthersee could change all that.
Its designers claim they drew on motor racing design and principles for inspiration; and the end result is an electric bike that features five riding options, including the hybrid ‘Pedelec’ mode which can see the bike reach a top speed of 50mph when the rider and electric motor
work in tandem. Should traditional cycling and the use of your legs not appeal, you’re also able to select the ‘eGrip’ mode to let the bike do all the work for you. Not bad. We can even see old Clarkson getting on one of these. Well, maybe not. ■ For more info: audi.com
