AND STUDENT MINISTRY
Parents of upcoming 6th Graders We realize that many of them may not be quite ready to be in the adult worship service. These young people are welcome to continue throughout the year in the JAMtowne area as a Jr. Assistant, where they will continue to learn and have opportunities to serve. If you have questions, please see Sissy Giffin or Corbin Kuhn
The attic will be back September 8th
The Attic is back open starting Friday, Sept. 8th. Middle and high school students are invited to come hang out with friends every Friday (unless stated otherwise) from 7-10pm. It is only $5 for 3 hours of fun!
"MOVE UP" Sunday for Children and Students TODAY! We will promote our children and students to their new classes here at Towne South on Sunday, August 27th. Upcoming 6th-12th grade students will have a breakfast social to welcome the new 6th graders to the student ministry and get them acquainted with their new adult leaders. Instead of a formal ceremony of sorts, we like to do this as small receptions in the individual classes. So, the new Kindergarteners, 6th graders, 9th Graders, and College age, will head on to their new assigned classes on August 27th.

OFFERING We give out of our love for God to support His work here on earth. If you are a guest we welcome you to express your gratitude but do not feel pressured.
DECISIONS At the end of the service an invitation is extended and is an opportunity for you to walk forward to accept Jesus as your Savior, rededicate your life, transfer your membership or ask for prayer and spiritual counsel.
BAPTISM Immersion in water pictures the death and burial of our old life without Jesus and the beginning of our new life as His follower. It is the moment when God’s grace unites with our faith providing forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Back to Church Sunday with two emphases on September 10
Great Day of Service September 24th, Project Ideas due by TODAY!
We will observe our sixth Great Day of Service on September 24. As last year, we will partner with Journey Christian Church. We'll meet for a brief service at 9 a.m. and then spread out into the community to be their hands and feet Get your shirts at squareup.com/store/tscoc/ Deadline is September 5th of Jesus. Consider your neighbors, friends, family, and co-workers that are not associated with Towne South and ask how can we serve them? Maybe you have a neighbor that can’t keep up with their yard and might need a hand or maybe a roof leak fixed. Think about how, when we pull our resources together, we are able to make a lasting difference in that person’s life. If you know of a project that would serve someone, submit it online at: tscoc.wufoo.com/forms/great-day-of-service-project-requests/
LIBRARY A review of RightNow Media by Trish Griffin
The Bible Project has a number of ways to explore God's Word in unique formats. Some main divisions include Word Study Series, Gospel Series, and Theme Series. The one that really interested me was The Read Scripture Series. It is composed of 70 real-time drawings as the narrator sketches the entire Bible is 8 minute episodes. Adults and youth will enjoy it. New to RightNow Media? Here is how to get started: All you have to do is a one time request to Jonathan Snoots (
[email protected]) for access to RIghtNow Media. You will be amazed at the array of resources for adults AND children.
WOMEN’S MINISTRY Area Ladies’ Meeting, September 11
Our next Area Ladies Meeting will be September 11, 2017, at Cape Colony Church of Christ, Edenton, NC. Cost of meal is $5.00 and an offering will also be taken. Theme is based on Ephesians 6:11, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” This is an evening when we meet with Christian women from sister congregations in our area for a night of food, fellowship, and devotion. If you want/need a ride, Lou Godfrey will be leaving from the parking area beside Heritage Hall at MACU on the corner of Walnut Street and First Street at 6:00 p.m. If any questions, please give Lou a call at 335-5927, leave a message and she will call you back.

[email protected] We will join in on the national back to church emphasis on September 10 (many churches will observe it on September 17). At Towne South we want to make this a day that we both 1) invite people who once went to church but have not done so for many years or others who may have never gone to church as well as 2) encourage our own people to make a special effort for all of us to be present on this Sunday. All of us have family and friends who attended church in the past but who are not currently attending church. A simple invitation may get them started again. So begin asking now. Remember, we have plenty of the Towne South calling cards--just write the times of the services on the back--maybe sign your name. Our Towne South people have been scattered everywhere this summer. Let's ALL of us come back together on September 1O. Our record attendance has been 447! Yet we have 515 people on our somewhat regular attendance list--and a lot of visitors/guests every Sunday. What an encouragement it would be if we could get our own people here, plus the extras that we should see on Back To Church Sunday. We could easily break that record-in fact, could we not hit at least 500?
JAMTOWNE PRESCHOOL Ways to help our JAMtowne Preschool We've been praying for a minimum of 20 students--we now stand at 19. We have the director, Kelly Schuellein, and a teacher, Cathy Hutchinson, and others are being interview to be the assistant. There's plenty of room for prayer. May it be a great year for the advancement of the Kingdom through the teaching of young minds about the Lord.
JAMtowne Preschool display
Some other ways that you can help support the preschool is through donations, either monetary or by helping to stock their supply closet. There you will find a variety of needs listed. Please take a post it note with you, and then return the items to the containers provided. If you’d prefer to share a monetary gift to be used toward those purchases, please leave that with the Welcome Center staff. There are flyers that you can take and share located at the Welcome Center, and there is detailed information at www.tscoc.com. We have an incredible opportunity at hand, so let’s pull out all the stops! Let’s PRAY like it all depends on God, and WORK like it all depends on us!

Our minister wants to meet you; he’ll be at the front of the stage immediately following the service.
