AUGUST 18 • 4-7pm The 35th annual Chicken BBQ will be held at the church on Saturday, August 18 from 4-7pm. A complete dinner of ½ chicken or pork chop, potato salad or chips, baked beans, carrots and celery, rolls and butter, ice cream and iced tea or lemonade will be served. The cost of a full meal is $9.00. Smaller portion meals are $6.00. Cake or fruit pie will be available for an additional charge. Tickets will be sold at the door. The major part of the profits this year will go to help finance the Henderson Mission trip. This annual work trip will be going to the Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky in September. It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Projects that
we will be working on include home construction repairs such as removing and replacing windows and doors, removing and installing siding and painting. We will also be working in their library, thrift store and tutoring shildren. We are also contributing funds to the Hilliard Food Pantry, Scioto Ridge youth retreat, Thanksgiving basket mission and purchase of choir robes. In addition, we are providing 100 meals to the Friends of the Homeless in downtown Columbus. We will need 60 volunteers to help at a number of BBQ tasks and some donations of BBQ food items. Sign-up sheets will be available in Dixon Hall starting on August 4.
Riders will depart from the Lakeside Pavilion at 5:15 p.m. (sharp) and join church family and friends back at the park for a potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to share. Hot dogs and bottled waters will be furnished by the church. All church members are encouraged to join in the fun….there will be plenty of games and fellowship at the park for everyone. Riders and nonriders, young and old—this is sure to be a great time for our entire church community!! If you have games (cornhole, wiffle ball, horseshoes, lawn darts, ladder golf, etc.) bring along to share. Sign up to help in Dixon Hall, or contact Emily Christian at 614-783-5716 with questions.

Christmas Angels are here!
It may be sweltering outside but we’re already thinking Christmas! Project Christmas Angels provides Christmas gifts to some of the 400 families served by Henderson Settlement, a Methodist-affiliated organization whose purpose is to meet the basic human needs of people in southeast Kentucky and northeast Tennessee. If you would like to help please stop by the Christmas Angel tree in Dixon Hall and pick up an angel. Choose your angel, pray over it, and then shop, shop, shop! Gift cards are a great option as well as they transport a bit easier. We ask you to bring the angel back with the gift or gift card to SRUMC by Aug. 12. If you have any questions please call Beth Tosko at 614-876-8170 or e-mail
[email protected].
