ANNOUNCEMENTS Greetings Friends and Guests! Welcome to the Church of the Open Door! To first time guests, we extend a special welcome. We are committed to preaching the Bible and following after our Lord Jesus Christ. With the help of God, we strive to live by the teachings of Scripture and to be guided by the Holy Spirit. We hope your time with us will point you to the Savior of all mankind and the Lover of our Souls. If you have any special needs, please feel free to ask one of the ushers for assistance. Sunday Evening Fellowship: This Sunday Evening following the service the food theme will be “Sandwiches & Salads” Please bring sandwiches or salads to share. Next Week: “Breakfast for Dinner.” Hand in Hand Small Group: Our next Hand in Hand small group is coming up quick! Jenny Efta will lead a discussion on a Biblical response to anger. Come join us as we look at what the Bible says about this topic and how it affects our relationship with Christ. We will be meeting for this session on Monday, August 21st from 7 to 9 p.m. at 22683 Wagner Road in Easton. To make this group more effective, it is limited in size to 8 - 10 women. Please RSVP by texting or calling Jenny at 913-680-8857, bring your Bible, and try to be on time. Ladies Bible Study: The Fall session of Bible studies for women will be starting on Monday, Sept. 11th at 10 a.m. at the church. A second class will be offered the same day at 7 p.m. at the home of Delores Vargas. The cost of the study guide is $7.50. If you would like to sign-up please contact Delores at 682-3925 as soon as possible to ensure enough material will be available. We plan to offer child care for the morning class. If you need childcare, please sign your children up as well. Meeting God, based on Knowing God by J.I. Packer will be our study. He makes this statement, “While my fellow believers are constantly seeking to advance in godliness, they show little direct interest in God Himself. When they study Scripture, only the principles of daily personal godliness get their attention; their heavenly Father does not. It is as if they should concentrate on the ethics and dynamics of marriage and fail to spend time with their spouse!" We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Sunday Evening Survey of the Old Testament in 39 Weeks Tonight: Haggai We are doing an overview of the Old Testament from beginning to end. Each week we will survey a different book of the Bible. Join us as we step back and look at the big picture of every book in the Old Testament and how they all prepare us for God’s ultimate revelation in the person of Jesus Christ. Tonight we will look at the Minor Prophets section of the Old Testament, studying the book of Haggai.

Next Week: Zechariah Read ahead—it will make your study more profitable.

Prayer Requests from the Board of Elders 1. Please pray for our children that are about to leave for school. Pray that they find Godly friends. Pray for their safe travel. Pray they quickly plug into a biblically sound loving church family. Pray they will grow stronger spiritually. 2. Pray for the new year of the Tyrannus School of Theology (TST) and the Discipleship Program for the Development of Spiritual Leaders (DPDSL). Pray for both students and teachers to manage their schedules. Pray that growth in Christ and a heart for ministry will mark each participant. 3. Please pray for our Fall Sunday School quarter, that as the Summer break ends and the business of the Fall picks up, people would continue to prioritize growing in their knowledge of the Lord and faithfully attend the Sunday School hour. Pray for our younger students and their teachers, that the truths of Scripture would be understood clearly. Pray for the adult classes and teachers, that they would grow in continued maturity. Please also pray for Pastor Efta’s New Member’s class, that the Lord would use it to help attendees solidify a proper foundation for their faith. 4. AWANA will begin the first week of September. Pray that the club has enough leaders and listeners to fill the need and be able to respond to growth this year. Pray that we will be able to reach the children in the area that are un-churched and the Holy Spirit will touch their hearts and lead them to salvation through this work. Pray for the families of children who come and for the Lord to work in their lives. Pray also for the families and children in our congregation that they might commit to helping and attending AWANA club meetings and to be welcoming to new people.
