INDIA FINTECH DAY The 2nd edition of India Fintech Day was held at Mumbai on 13th September, 2017. It was a daylong event organized by NASSCOM 10,000 Startups. The theme of this event was "Fintech in 5 – Trends disrupting traditional financial services in the next 5 years" with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Alternate Lending and SecureTech. The day started with a talk by Surekha Shenoy, ED & CEO, Morgan Stanley where she spoke about technology adoption and digital disruption in BFSI. It was followed by an opening keynote by Mr. Sudarshan Sen, Executive Director – RBI who gave a deep insight about blockchain and cryptocurrency.

The keynote speaker, Deepak Sharma, CDO, Kotak Mahindra, talked about the business models & opportunities where fintech can start working with banks. NIPP CORPORATE KONNECT 8 startups presented during NIPP Corporate Konnect Session, in which 25+ corporates attended. STARTUP EXPO 13 top-notch Fintech startups showcased their products. They were Authbase, Airpay, Cateina Technologies, EarlySalary, FTL Technology, Safehats, Inteliment, KrypC, Morph.ai, Paysack, Rupeeseed, Scalend, Signzy, Smokescreen, Spocto Trace, Stride, Techforce.ai, Valuefy, vPhrase at the Startup Expo during the event.

VC PANEL DISCUSSION The panel discussion of the day was on the Emerging Fintech trends and investment scenario. K.A. Srinivasan introduced Ventureast, Dhyanesh Shah introduced his firm RoadVentures, Amit Somani introduced Prime VP and TCM Sundaram introduced IDG Ventures at India Fintech Day. The team discussed about the integration of Finance and Technology. TCM Sundaram quoted “When you exit, Fin matters than the Tech in Fintech". CXO ROUNDTABLE The CXO Round Table session was themed on the agenda of ‘Open Innovation and Collaboration in Fintech’. It was introduced by KS Viswanathan, VP (Industry initiatives, NASSCOM) and 13 industry stalwarts participated and contributed to the discussion, they were; Deepak Sharma – CDO, Kotak Mahindra Bank Tarun Sareen – MD, Deutsche Bank Nitish Agrawal – APAC Head, Start-up Focus, SAP Lab Hitesh Sachdev – Head of Innovation, ICICI Bank Srinivas Lingam – CIO, Banca Sella Gangadhar SJ – Head-IT, Bajaj Allianz Arjun Singh – MD, Asia, Yodlee Infotech Kaushik Majumdar- MD, Principal Global Surekha Shenoy – ED, Morgan Stanley Harish Mehta- CMD, Onward Technologies (NASSCOM Founding Member) Paresh Degaonkar - Regional Head, NASSCOM. The discussion was detailed and touched upon many facets of corporate-startup engagement, including the need for deep domain knowledge and context for startups, effectiveness of innovation activities such as hackathons, and how to mix technology and business, etc.The discussion focused on the problems in Fintech industry and how Open Innovation Practices are driving the future of finance.

FIRE SIDE CHAT - COLLABORATION BETWEEN ENTERPRISES AND FINTECHS Tarun Sareen, MD-Deutsche Bank; Neha Punater, PartnerKPMG; & Adhil Shetty, Founder - BankBazzar discussed about Fintech industry and how to co-create solutions in a FireSide Chat. Adhil Shetty quoted “The ecosystem that is built in India is often under- appreciated. Consumers are the ones who are driving the change”.

FIRE SIDE CHAT - FUTURE OF FINTECH Bipin Singh, CEO, MobiKwik and Leslie D'Monte, National Tech Editor, had a chat on the future of Fintech industry. They discussed how the Fintech domain will shape up and what the startups need to look out while building the solutions for huge economy like ours. Leslie D’Monte also gave a talk in the revolution of Fintech industry.

FORD CITY OF TOMORROW CONFERENCE

NIPP Partner Ford organized the “City of Tomorrow” conference, for the first time in Asia, on 25th of September in Delhi. It was a day-long symposium which put limelight on the theme of Mobility Needs and their implications for the future. It was also an official TED event, and included sessions by opinion leaders, academics, innovators, policymakers, and TED fellows, who shared their views and ideas on how to create a better tomorrow.

NIPP Partner Societe Generale GSC, organized the Demo Day of their accelerator Catalyst 2.0 on the 5th of September at Bangalore. 8 startups graduated in the 2nd Cohort, and the event saw participation from a pool of Investors, Ecosystem and Industry Players. UNLOCKING THE GIG ECONOMIES BY PAYONEER A Multi-city Roadshow was organized for NIPP PartnerPayoneer, in Ahmedabad, Pune and Indore, that focused on providing opportunities to understand the brewing GIG economy from the experts. The idea was to help them learn the tricks and trades to reach out to global customers and grow their businesses beyond borders. The broader agenda for the Roadshows included a session on the GIG Economy, Impact of GST on Cross Border Transaction, Leapfrog from Freelancing to Gig Economy.

NIPP - GIC Session on Open Innovation was organized at the Alight Solutions office in Gurgaon on 22nd August, 2017. Participants included CXOs from Ford, Royal Bank of Scotland, Ernst & Young, Boston Scientific, Amdocs, FIL, Yamaha Corporation, Alight Solutions and others. The round table discussion was on the different ways and models in which large organisations (GICs) are engaging with the open innovation ecosystem in India. Post discussion, four Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Startups namely Ikarus, Lattice Innovations, THB, Corseco presented their ideas and solutions.

NIPP along with Blockchained India team organized a meetup on Crypto Currencies and the rise of Initial Coin Offerings at the event space in NASSCOM 10,000 Startups Warehouse, Bangalore on 5th August,2017. Around 80+ Block chain enthusiasts and startup founders participated.

UNILEVER IOT EVENT Unilever organised the event at their premises, to create awareness about the developing IOT ecosystem and the way it is changing the tech landscape in Retail businesses. Audience were their IT employees, ranging from Analysts to Managers to Directors/VPs. 5 Startups got an opportunity to showcase products and give a demo to Unilever Employees. The startups were IOT POT, iFuture Robotics, Sensovision, Profile Quest, instore AI.

UNILEVER INNOVATION OFFSITE 30 senior executives of different functional teams of Unilever, visited NASSCOM 10,000 Startups Warehouse, Bangalore on 27th Sept to meet some startups working on innovative ideas. 6 startups - Touchwizard, Monk.ai, Datoin, Wisense, Relatas, Toolyt showcased their products and presented their solutions to the enthusiastic audience. The attendees were excited to see the product demos in the emerging tech areas of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation, Chatbots, Analytics etc.

They interacted with 4 startups in the Logistics, Supply Chain, FNA and Artificial Intelligence areas. The team discussed with the NIPP team regarding Indian Startup Ecosystem and Open Innovation in India.

PARTNER DELEGATION - WALMART LABS Walmart Leadership team from United States along with Walmart Labs - India Team, visited the NASSCOM 10,000 Startups Warehouse, Bangalore on 9th August. They met 3 growth-stage Startups in Logistics and Supply Chain domains.

PARTNER DELEGATION  - SONY CORPORATION Sony - India team led by Kaneaki Fujishita, SISC along with Mr. Hioki, Terumasa, HR SGMO, Mr. Toyonaga, Soma, HR SID, Mr. Shimomura Shunsuke, HR SID, Mr. Hiroyuki Tamaki, Deputy MD of SISC and Mr. Masayuki Toriumi, MD-SISC, visited the NASSCOM 10,000 Startups Warehouse, Bangalore on 19th August. The team discussed various domain related solutions with 4 Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Startups.

LEADERSHIP VISIT - SIEMENS   The Leadership Team of Siemens led by Lak Ananth, Head of Next47 initiative, visited NASSCOM 10,000 Startups Warehouse, Bangalore on 16th August. The team met startups in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Internet of Things space.

Ralph Hays, Consul General & Trade Commissioner, New Zealand Consulate General – Mumbai, visited NASSCOM 10,000 Startups Warehouse, Bangalore on 23rd August and got Alex Campbell, Managing Director, Xero – Asia and Matt Vickers, Senior Vice President – Products and Emerging Markets, Xero along with them

The team came for exploring opportunities to collaborate with startups in India. The team met 3 startups in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data space

They discussed the opportunities for New Zealand Corporate to engage with Indian Startup Ecosystem and interacted with 3 Fintech startups providing solutions in Natural Language Processing and Blockchain.
