Auto Insurance CLAIMS We’re committed to delivering high-quality customer service by making your claim process smooth and hassle-free — so you can get your vehicle repaired as soon as possible. The following information should help answer any questions you may have regarding the process. If You Have A Deductible If your policy has a deductible that applies to a claim, you’ll need to make a payment to the repair facility equal to the amount of the deductible after repairs are completed. Rental Car If your vehicle will be out of service due to a loss (other than theft) for more than 24 hours — and you purchased Rental Car coverage — a rental car will be made available to you. • If your vehicle is not drivable, rental car coverage begins immediately. • If your vehicle is drivable, coverage begins once actual repairs to your vehicle are started. Rental Car coverage includes up to 30 days rental and ends when your vehicle has been repaired or a settlement has been offered should your vehicle be deemed a Total Loss. In the event of a theft of your vehicle, your Central Theft Unit claim handler can explain if rental car coverage is available and to what extent. Vehicle Repairs We recommend you use AAA Direct Repair Shops who will complete a repair estimate for your vehicle and electronically submit it to us for approval. We will handle payment for your repairs. All vehicles repaired at AAA Direct Repair Shops feature a lifetime warranty for as long as you own your vehicle. Taking Your Vehicle Somewhere Other Than A Direct Repair Shop We will arrange for a local claim adjuster or an independent adjusting service hired by us to inspect your vehicle and provide you with a copy of the repair estimate. We will handle payment for the repairs. Stolen Vehicles If your vehicle has been stolen, a member of our Central Theft Unit will contact you as soon as possible. Mini-Tort (for Michigan policyholders only) The Michigan No Fault Act provides that damages up to $1,000 may be recovered from the at-fault party. These damages are known as Mini-Tort damages. If you are 50% or less at fault and have no collision coverage on your vehicle or have to pay a deductible, you can pursue Mini-Tort with the at-fault person’s insurance carrier. From time to time, Mini-Tort may not be approved by the at-fault person’s insurance carrier and you may need to proceed through Small Claims Court. Contact the at-fault party’s insurance carrier to determine what documentation they require to process your Mini-Tort claim. You may need the following: • Police report (to verify fault in accident). There may be a charge for the police report. •D eclarations Page (should cover date of accident). This is included with your insurance policy paperwork. •E stimate from body shop and/or photos of damage. This is needed to verify damages to your vehicle. Once you have the required documents, follow up with the at-fault person’s insurance company to file your Mini-Tort claim.
