Q4 Fiscal Year 2015 Financial Results

Avnet‘s executive leadership team

Avnet, Inc.:

• Sales of $6.8 billion increased 3.1% year over year in constant currency but declined 3.6% on a reported basis. In constant currency, high single digit growth at EM was partially offset by a decline at TS primarily due to the weakness in the computing components business.

Rick Hamada

• Adjusted operating income decreased 0.4% year over year (increased 10.0% in constant currency) to $243.8 million and adjusted operating income margin increased 12 basis points to 3.6% as improvement in the EMEA region at both operating groups in constant currency was negatively impacted when translating those results into U.S. Dollars.

Chief Executive Officer

• Adjusted diluted earnings per share increased 1.8% Y/Y to $1.16. • Avnet’s ROWC increased 44 basis points year over year and ROCE was up 21 basis points primarily due to an increase at TS. • Cash generated from operations was $299.3 million in FQ4 and $584 million for the trailing twelve months.

Kevin Moriarty

• Paid a quarterly cash dividend of $0.16 per share or $21.7 million, and has paid $87.3 million for the full fiscal year.

Chief Financial Officer

• The Company repurchased $15.8 million worth of stock, or 368,364 shares, at an average price of $42.86. Through July 31, 2015, the Company has repurchased approximately $64 million worth of stock and has approximately $238 million remaining in the share repurchase program.

Gerry Fay President, Avnet Electronics Marketing

Electronics Marketing:

• Sales of $4.32 billion increased 7.2% year over year in constant currency with all three regions contributing and was essentially flat on a reported basis. • Sales increased 3.0% sequentially in constant currency or 2.3% on a reported basis, which was in-line with the normal seasonal range of flat to +4% primarily due to growth in constant currency across all three regions.

Patrick Zammit President, Avnet Technology Solutions

• Operating income margin of 4.8% was essentially flat from the year ago quarter primarily due to the geographic mix shift as the higher margin EMEA region represented a lower percentage of total EM after translating the results to U.S. Dollars and the negative impact of the higher mix of sales from select high volume supply chain engagements in Asia. Sequentially, operating income margin increased 9 basis points primarily due to an improvement in the EMEA region.

MaryAnn Miller Chief Human Resources Officer and Corporate Marketing & Communications

Technology Solutions:

• Sales decreased 3.5% year over year in constant currency, or 9.2% on a reported basis, to $2.48 billion, primarily due to the translation impact of the strong U.S. Dollar and a significant decline in the computing components business. • Operating income margin of 3.1% increased 42 basis points from the year ago quarter primarily due to an increase in the EMEA region partially offset by a decline in the Asia region primarily related to the computing components business. Operating income margin increased 42 basis points sequentially primarily due to improvements in the Americas and Asia regions.

Erin Lewin General Counsel

• Y/Y growth in networking and servers was offset by declines in storage and computing components. See CFO report at http://ir.avnet.com/results.cfm for complete details.

There are a lot of statistics on the millennial generation. The latest

one I read states that in just five years millennials will make up 50 percent of the workforce. It’s widely known that this key generation of workers has a different view on everything—from career aspirations to work culture—and are hyperaware of corporate social responsibility efforts. I for one couldn’t be happier knowing this because I’ve seen firsthand the fresh perspective and fearlessness they bring. Each summer, Avnet offers a 12week, projectbased, paid internship that provides undergraduate college students the opportunity to gain realworld experience in a global Fortune 500 company. One of the interns’ first projects entails helping in the community. During orientation week, this year’s 67 interns helped refresh the playgrounds and outside areas of Homeward Bound, an organization that provides traditional housing and services to women and children fleeing domestic violence or homelessness.

But their community commitment didn’t stop there. They brought a new spirit to our annual backtoschool fundraiser that supports Operation Back to School Chandler, an organization that provides underprivileged students with backpacks, school supplies, shoes, socks, underwear and uniforms. http://blogging.avnet.com/weblog/avnetvoices/2015/07/31/the-millennials-approach-to-fundraising/

furious. Our Avnet Executive Board members got involved, too. Our CEO Rick Hamada’s door was covered in mascot tags, and one Ohio State University alumni was the recipient of 42 Michigan tags. Not only did the mascot wars raise more than $2,200 and fill 320 backpacks with supplies, it also raised a lot of discussion about best college teams and best practices for fundraising. Our interns have been asked to help create a few more new ideas for fundraising before they head back to school. Their insight, spirit and fearlessness has left a lasting impression, and I can’t wait to see what the next few years look like as more millennials enter the workforce.
