Dear Awana Parents: We have gathered some information so that you know what to expect throughout the year in Sparks. SPARKS SCHEDULE 6:15pm — Opening ceremony in Auditorium 6:30-7:45pm – Activities in various areas of the church. MEMBERSHIP Each child will begin with the entrance booklet titled Flight 3:16. This is the first step in Awana achievement. We hope you will help your child complete this over the first three weeks that they attend club. Upon the completion of this booklet your child is an Awana Sparks club member. HANDBOOKS After completion of Flight 3:16 a clubber will receive a Sparks membership card and is eligible to purchase a uniform and the first rank handbook called The HangGlider Handbook. Clubbers work one section at a time with the goal of completing one handbook during the club year. Clubbers may receive two helps in each section of the handbook. Each section must be recited in one sitting. PARENTS You are a very important part of how your child progresses in his/her handbook. Since some of our Sparks clubbers are just beginning to read it will be essential for you to help them with their sections. Completing two sections each week, starting in September, will insure that a handbook will be completed within the Awana year. Remember, you are investing in your child’s spiritual life! Spend time together, make it fun! **NOTE - If your 1st or 2nd grader did not finish his/her handbook from the year before, they will continue in the handbook they have already started. If it was completed, they will move on to the next Sparks handbook.
UNIFORMS Clubber must be a member in order to wear a uniform. The Sparks uniform is a red vest. The uniform is important because: • It provides a place to put the awards earned by the clubber. A clubber who earns an award, but does not have a uniform, will have the award held until his/her uniform arrives. • A uniform gives the clubber a feeling of identity with the group. AWANA AND CHURCH ATTENDANCE AWARDS Awards are given for attending Awana and church.
