AWANA stresses Bible memorization of key verses from Scripture. The memory work is designed to establish a personal relationship between the child and Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of their lives. AWANA also helps to build up the child in Bible knowledge, instilling in them a love and respect for God and His Word. But the learning doesn't stop there, throughout each week, kids and parents can work together to learn and study the Bible. We meet: On Wednesday’s The first of September through middle of April From 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm. An After School Program is offered for MayPort-CG school children in K-6th grades, who are registered for Awana. • At 3:30 p.m. they are dropped off at the church, by the school buses. • We provide a light snack, opportunity to work on homework or wear off some energy by playing games until Awana begins. A Typical Club night: Each club night starts with: • Short Opening Ceremony (Pledges to American & Awana Flags, special announcements, and prayer) Followed by three roughly equal periods called: • Handbook Time: In this time, the clubbers recite verses from their club handbooks, that they have memorized during the week at home. Each club has a unique handbook for each grade level, that has appropriate materials for that age level—they earn awards at various milestones in their handbooks. • Large Group Time: The clubbers hear a short Bible message on various topics, sing songs, and receive any awards they have earned. The Bible message is the focus of Large Group Time and generally includes a clear presentation of the gospel and/or instruction on applying biblical truths to everyday life. • Game Time: During Game Time, the color teams competes against one another during the various games that are played. Games are conducted on a circle unique to AWANA and are a high energy, exciting time for the clubbers. The exact schedule varies by age group so that the church’s facilities can be shared between all of the groups. Special Nights: Throughout the year we have special events, examples are: Kickoff Family Carnival, Parents Night, Wear Your Uniform to School, Swim Night at MSU Pool, and Awards Night. Plus we have many contests during the year, as well as, many theme nights, like wacky hair night, dress like….., wear a certain color, crazy sock night, etc. When Done: Clubbers will remain in the building until picked up by their parents. When picking up your children, please come inside to get them. This will ensure their safety. Please be watchful of other children when backing out of the parking areas. Our purpose and desire is that every child will know, love, and serve the Lord as we reach out to children and their families, both in our community and our church.
Cancellation Policy: Please be aware we may need to cancel Awana Clubs in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. If MayPort-CG School is cancelled, so is Awana. We also try to do a call around, using the phone numbers you provide us with. Listen to KMAV (FM 105.5) or contact Child’s Director. Also, if you live out of town & there is Awana, please use your own discretion if weather/roads are questionable. We want everyone to be safe!
