STORY

ALTERNATE VERSION

No pushing through the crowd or use of a shieldDave just opens a house window and climbs out, crowd-surfing his way to his car.

INSPIRATION This short film builds on the classic AXE idea of being irresistible to women, focused here through the lens of the Apollo campaign. DAVE is treated like a rock star celebrity because he is going to space, and he literally has to struggle just to make his way through the crowd of excited women just to go to work... as an astronaut. The film is fast-paced, with naturally quick back-and-forth dialog, thus allowing the spot to easily fit a standard 30 second broadcast length, or be expanded for a slightly longer web edit. This film is simple in design but still elaborate in scope; what begins as a routine sitcom style story develops into an elaborate AXE style piece with the opening of the front door: our plan is to literally fill the space with attractive, intelligent, real women (not mindless drones) because this is about celebrating a hero.

LOCATION

A pleasant suburban house (3 bedrooms) shared by roommates FRED, CORBIN & DAVE. Seeking more generic architecture versus distinctly “Californian” designs. Should have an “Anytown, USA” feel. Interior is decorated but has a simple, homey feel.

THE GUYS The characters are guys in their early 20’s, just starting their careers and sharing a house to keep living expenses down. They’ve always been friends who have enjoyed hanging out, hitting the town and doing life together- though everything’s changed since Dave became an astronaut.

PRODUCTION PLANNING

Pitch funding would allow us to take this somewhat ambitious idea and make it into reality with high production value. The budget would help toward organizing casting sessions, hiring excellent non-union actors, bringing in a working cinematographer to make the best use of the lighting and digital cinema camera package (Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera/ RED Scarlet or better) and persuading an experienced film crew to pitch in... not to mention providing small stipends for a couple dozen extras for our exterior scenes. It’s not without challenges, but the film offers many exciting creative opportunities, and would be fun to make... or watch.

WHY ME? -Understands rental costume/ wardrobe etiquette for production -Previous experience with crowd scenes -Unhealthily strong identification with 18-21 year old mindset, part of the target demo -Connections with really talented professional people I could convince to work with me... with a modest budget - Past experience with astronaut themed projects on Tongal -Intense appreciation for epic themed projects -Could have someone take cool behind the scenes photos for Tongal PR -Would love to produce work with the spirit and tone of AXE Apollo campaign - Attended space camp
