„ZFF 72 Talent Contest“: 72 Hours for 72 Seconds Everyone can participate Zurich,  September  3,  2014   An  exciting  race  against  time:  For  its  10th  anniversary,  Zurich  Film  Festival   launches   the   „ZFF   72   Talent   Contest“.   Participants   –   either   individuals   or   teams   –   are   given   72   hours   to   create   a   film   clip   with   a   specified   theme   lasting   no   longer   than   72   seconds.   ZFF   wants   to   rouse   film   fever   in   young   talents   worldwide   and   motivate   them   to   have   a   go   at   filmmaking   outside   the  box.   Those   wishing   to   take   part   have   until   Wednesday,   September   24,   00:00   to   register   at   zff.com.   The   theme   of   the   short   film   will   be   announced   online   at   the   start   of   the   contest   on   Friday,   September   26   at   12:00   (noon).   Entrants   are   free   to   choose   the   genre   of   their   film.   A   jury   of   specialists   and   the   worldwide   online   community   will   judge   the   entries.   There   are   prizes   totalling   CHF   10'000   to   be   won:   The   „Viewers   Award“   is   endowed   with   a   CHF   4'000,   and   the   „Jury   Award“   with  a  CHF  5'000  cash  prize.  Both  winners  also  each  receive  a  CHF  500  voucher   for  the  online  platform  Pond5.   The   contest   kicks   off   on   Friday   26,   at   12:00   noon   when   ZFF   Co-­‐Director   Karl   Spoerri  announces  via  video  at  zff.com  the  theme  that  the  film  clips  must  tackle.   Entries   must   reach   us   before   12:00   noon   on   Monday,   September   29   –   that’s   72  

hours  later!  A  help  desk  will  be  set  up  in  the  Festival  Centre  at  Sechseläutenplatz   for  the  duration  of  the  contest.  Here,  students  from  Zurich  University  of  the  Arts   will   be   on   hand   to   offer   help   and   advice.   Participants   also   have   free   access   to   approx.   50   media   files   from   Pond5,   which   they   can   download   and   use   in   their   entry.   The   works   will   be   judged   on   the   one   hand   by   the   worldwide   online   public,   which   will   vote   via   zff.com,   and   on   the   other   by   a   jury   of   film   and   social   media   professionals.   This   jury   comprises   Lucas   Ochoa,   film   producer   from   London;   Bart   Wasem,   freelance   clips   and   visuals   designer;   Benjamin   Kniel,   member   of   the   Swiss   band   Klischée;   and   the   college   graduate   Aurelia   Weickart,   who   has   just   written  a  paper  about  film  education  in  schools.   Public   Voting   begins   on   September   29   at   18.00,   six   hours   after   the   film   submission  deadline,  and  runs  until  12.00  noon  on  October  3.   The  award  ceremony  takes  place  at  22:00  on  October  3  during  the  „ZFF  72  Talent   Party“  at  the  Papiersaal.  Doors  open  at  21:00.  The  band  Klischée  will  also  perform   during  the  party.   Register  for  the  contest  at:  www.zff.com/en/72/zff-­‐72-­‐talent-­‐contest/   See  the  "ZFF  72  Talent  Contest"  Clip  here:
