Barbados Bag Instructor: Cynthy Kram Fabric requirements: ½ yard – Fabric 1 – Bag top front & back 1 fat quarter – Fabric 2 – Front pocket accent ½ yard – Fabric 3 – Lower front & back pockets ¼ yard – Fabric 4 – Strap ½ yard – Fabric 5 - Lining ½ yard – Fusible fleece ½ yard Décor bond fusible Pellon Matching thread for top stitching 1 – 9” zipper and 1 – 12” zipper (do not use metal zippers) 2 sets of 1” Swivel hook and D-ring Pattern: Barbados Bag by Pink Sand Beach Designs Sewing Machine in good working condition, bring a ¼” quilting foot, zipper foot and walking foot Basic sewing supplies (scissors, seam ripper, pins, etc) Marking pencil for fabric Rotary cutter, mat and ruler Pre-cutting directions, the following pieces can be cut before: Fabric 1– 2 – 12” long x 11” wide, Bag top front/back 2 – 4” x 12” Inside pockets 1 – 2” x 6” Top zipper tab Fabric 2– 1 – 13 ½” long x 11” wide, Front pocket accent 2 – 3” x 3” Pocket zipper tabs Fabric 3– 1 – 17” long x 11” wide, Lower front pocket 1 – 18” long x 11” wide, Back pocket 1 – 2 ½” x 12”, Inside pocket accent

Fabric 4 – 1 – 3 ½” x 42” and 1 – 3 ½” x 10”, sew together to make a 50” long piece. Fabric 5 2 – 11 ¾” long x 11” wide, bag lining 1 – 10 ½” long x 11” wide, Front pocket lining Fusible fleece – 2 – 12” long x 11” wide, Bag outside interfacing 2 – 4” x 11”, Lining top edge interfacing 1 – 1” x 44” and 1 – 1” x 10” Strap interfacing Décor bond – * 1 – 9” long x 11” wide, Back pocket interfacing 1 – 8 ½” long x 11” wide, Front pocket interfacing 1 – 1” x 44” and 1” x 10”, Strap interfacing 1 – 1 ½” x 11” Front pocket accent interfacing Bring remaining fabrics to class in case of changes. *I used ShapeFlex instead of Décor bond, it’s a softer feel. You will need about 1 ½ yards and cut 2 each of the first 2 items (I fused 2 layers) and only 1 of the rest.
