Barn Door 12”x 12” Fabric Requirements: One- 5”x 21” background fabric One- 5”x 21” main fabric Other Supplies: Quilt in a Day Triangle Square Up Ruler Place your background fabric on top of the main fabric, right sides together. Cut two 5” squares. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the two squares you just cut.
Stitch ¼” from both sides of the drawn line.
Using your rotary cutter, cut on the drawn line. You get two half square triangles per square.
Using “Quilt in a Day” triangle square up ruler: Line up the 4 ½” red dotted line on the stitched seam. Trim the sides of the triangle. Repeat on all four half square triangles. Open the triangle and press seam to the dark fabric. Be sure to remove the dog ears.
From the remaining stacked fabric, cut four 2 ½”x 4 ½” rectangles.
Sew down the long side of the rectangle using a ¼” seam. Repeat for remaining rectangles. Press seam to the dark. From the background fabric only, cut one 4 ½” square for the center of your block.
Lay out the squares to form your block. Sew squares into rows.
