Doing Good Globally Dr. Curtis Baysinger serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Kybele, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to improving childbirth safety worldwide, based at Wake Forest School of Medicine. Dr. Baysinger is co-leader of the team that serves Bosnia and Serbia, where they have an on-going project with a host at the Clinical Center, Novi Sad, Serbia, and the University of Novi Sad School of Medicine and anesthesia residency program. The project's focus has been to increase the use of neuraxial analgesia for labor and for cesarean delivery, to improve training of the residents in obstetric anesthesia, and to improve post-cesarean delivery pain relief. After much effort, the team has succeeded in altering the method of residency education from one of observership to one of clinical work with direction by attending staff. Correspondingly, progress toward the other goals has improved as well. Dr. Baysinger plans a return trip with his team to Banja Luka, Bosnia, later in April.
