Beachside Little League Spring 2017 T-Ball Rules

Field Prep The home team is responsible for lining the field. DO NOT USE CHALK. There is paint in the equipment room that is to be used for lining Son-Shine Field. Length of Game Each game will last 1 hour. The time is discretionary among coaches based on attention level of the players. If time, daylight, schedule, etc permits, coaches are free to extend the game for as long as the players want. Both coaches MUST AGREE to go longer than the 1hr time. Substitutions/Defense Play All players can be on the field at the same time. Players are free to leave the field (bathroom, tantrums, etc) at will with permission from a coach. There are no outs recorded, play will continue until offensive team is through the batting lineup. Players that are tagged/thrown out are to remain on base. When a catcher is used, he/she must be in full catcher’s gear as provided by BSLL. He/she will also be taught the proper catching position in the crouch; not kneeling, standing, or sitting. Base Running Players may advance 1 base at a time. Last batter in the lineup goes around the bases.

Batting All batters must wear a batting helmet. All players will bat each inning. BSLL encourages 4 soft tosses by the coach prior to the use of the batting T, especially for 5 and 6 year olds. As it is understood that skill levels can vary greatly, coach toss is at the coach’s discretion. No other player besides the batter is to have a bat in his/her hands, this includes the “on-deck” batter. Coaching Coaches are permitted on the field with their team for on-field instruction and direction. When the team is up to bat, a manager/coach must remain in the dugout. Make-up Games If a game is canceled due to weather, games can be made up, schedule permitting but are not required. Both managers must agree to make the game up and must agree on day/time. Clean Up Every team is responsible for cleaning up their dugout and dugout area after their game. The managers are ultimately responsible to make sure that the field is cleaned up inclusive of any spectator areas. Parents can do their part by not leaving trash in and around the bleachers.
