Introduction Beckers is a global coatings company with Europe-wide leading positions in coil and special coatings, supplying architectural and transport, appliance manufacturers, agricultural, construction and earthmoving equipment (ACE), and defence industries. Beckers also provide finishes for mobile phones and other electronic devices. The group’s operations span 17 countries, and each operating entity has its own production unit, R&D lab and commercial organisation.

“When we decided to complete a carbon emissions analysis of the entire group of 17 factories around the world, we chose to work with U&We and with the web-based tool Our Impacts”, says Ingela Nordin, Sustainability Manager at Beckers.
Solution Our Impacts is a tool for small and large organisations that wish to measure their greenhouse gas emissions and set ambitious reduction targets. With the help of Our Impacts, Beckers has decentralised its data collection to each production site. With a single click, Beckers gets an overview of its climate impacts, emission sources and the sizes of these sources. “The advantage of studying our carbon footprint is that we get an overview of the largest sources of our emissions, so that we can in turn set targets and take effective action to improve our operations,” Nordin continued.
Results “The biggest advantage for us is that all calculations are made in the program, and that the emission factors are updated regularly and are based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol,” Nordin concluded. “I would definitely recommend the tool to other companies, especially for global enterprises.
