“Thank you, thank you, thank you for the most amazing Bella tour and tasting! Our friends were nearly overwhelmed by it all — tastes and views, and we were thoroughly delighted by a whole new Bella experience — who knew it was possible after all our years of visiting the winery!” — Longtime Friend of Bella Vancouver, BC

Bella Vineyards and Wine Caves Tours + Tastings | Food & Wine Magazine | april 1, 2011 Wild in Wine Country: “Is a tasting-room tour much too tame? Try some of these new ways to get in touch with wine country’s wild side. See Bella Vineyards’ mountainside vineyard and wine caves while riding in a Pinzgauer, a six-wheeled Swiss ATV.”

2008 Lily Hill Estate zinfandel

San Francisco Chronicle | march 25, 2011, jon bonné The Chronicle Recommends Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel: “Bella continues to show the beauties of Lily Hill’s 10 acres, planted in 1915 on the valley’s west side. Slightly rooty, complex and rewarding, with a mix of pine bark, dust, bouillon and black plum. A great, hefty structure on which to hang the fresh fruit. This is a grown-up Zin.”

2008 Maple Vineyard zinfandel

Wine Enthusiast | may 2011, steve heimoff “Unmistakably Zinfandel, and Dry Creek at that, with its robust texture, firm tannins and briary, brambly flavors of wild summer berries, chocolate-covered raisins, red licorice and cola, liberally spiced with black pepper. It’s a big, voluptuous wine that never loses its sense of balance and harmony.” 92 Points

2008 Big River Ranch zinfandel

Piedmont Post | march 2011, pierre dumont The Wine Corner; Best New Zinfandels: “This wine comes from Alexander Valley and is bright and juicy with wild berries, sweet plums and nice acidity. It has great balance and elegance with a long homogeneous finish.” Vinography | february 19, 2011, alder yarrow California’s Best Zinfandel: Notes from the ZAP 2011 Tasting: “Dark garnet in color this wine has a nose of smoky blueberry and black cherry aromas. In the mouth bright flavors of black cherry, wet dirt, and juicy, slightly unripe blackberries burst with flavor and linger through a very nice finish.” Scoring Between 9.5 and 10 Points (Outstanding)

2008 Two Patch zinfandel

Wine Enthusiast | may 2011, steve heimoff “Made from two old-vine vineyards, this Zin is soft, high in alcohol, sweet in glycerin and fabulously rich in berry, chocolate, currant, licorice and dusty spice flavors. There’s nothing quite like it in the world.” 90 Points The Press Democrat | february 28, 2011, peg melnik The Week’s Wine Picks: “A zin with deep concentrated flavors. Aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, herbs and cracked black pepper. Zesty.” Slashfood | february 28, 2011, kristine hansen Red Wines for Winter-Wine of the Week: “Zins can run the gamut from light-bodied to intense, and this one falls squarely in the intense camp. A beautiful, expressive nose is followed by blackberry and wild black-raspberry notes before coasting into a smooth, soft finish with barely-there tannins and a mild entrance of blueberries. The fruit to produce this wine was sourced from two neighboring vineyards in Zin-rich northern Sonoma County: Big River Ranch and Todd Brothers Ranch.”

2008 Big River Ranch petite sirah

Wine Enthusiast | may 2011, steve heimoff “Classic Petite Sirah from a warm climate, inky black, soft in texture and explosively rich in tannins. Extravagant in the essence of ripe summer blackberries and cassis, with a meaty quality surrounded by plenty of sweet, charred oak. Drink this robust beauty now with beef stews, barbecued spareribs, or even dark chocolate.” 92 Points Wine Review Online | february 15, 2011, tina caputo “The wine has a deep, rich color, along with a nice plummy aroma. It’s concentrated and ripe, with flavors of black fruit, plum and vanilla. Well balanced, with good structure.” 90 Points

A l e x a n d e r Va l l e y z i n f a n d e l Bella Vineyards is a small, family owned and operated winery focusing on unique parcels of estate-grown wine. The 2007 Big River zinfandel is a showstopper. From our old vines in Alexander valley, this vineyard never fails to deliver outstanding fruit. Flavors of blackberries, pomegranates, ripe raspberries, vanilla and mocha burst forth, followed by a rich mouth feel and a luxurious, silky finish. Refined and elegant this wine will age wonderfully for 7 to 9 years. Strictly limited production.
