Founded in 1986 First study abroad program begins in Spring 1987 (London, England) ICISP offers its first 2-Week Faculty/Administrators’ Exchange in 1989 In 1991, ICISP offers its first summer study abroad program (Queretaro (Queretaro, Mexico) ICISP receives a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Grant sending faculty to China in 1994 ICISP receives a second Fulbright to Zimbabwe in 1995 In 2006, ICISP celebrates its 20th anniversary ICISP receives a 2-year IFSA grant in 2007, which provided a total of $70,000 in scholarship money for students participating in semester study abroad

The ICISP Executive Board consists of the ICISP Chair, Vice Chair, Membership Secretary, ICISP/Host Institution Liaison and the chairs of all the ICISP committees. The Governing Board is comprised of all of the member institutions’ representatives (1-3 per institution), and each institution selects one of its representatives to serve as its voting representative. The ICISP Executive and Governing Boards typically meet twice each semester and once during the summer. The ICISP office is managed via the ICISP Coordinator located at Heartland Community College. The ICISP Coordinator reports directly to the ICISP Chair and ICISP/Host Institution Liaison.

ICISP consists of 34 member institutions & a Wisconsin Consortium, all of which, pay annual participation dues.

Students register and receive credit for courses with assistance from the ICISP representative at their home institution. Coordinate arrangements for, attend, and record and maintain the official records of ICISP Executive Board and Governing Board meetings. Manage consortium membership, dues, communications and mailings. Serve as a resource for ICISP representatives, prospective and current program participants and their families, and international visitors.
