internal and external partnerships, ICISP develops and provides cost-effective programs, services, and opportunities for the constituencies it serves— students, faculty, administrators, staff, busin ess and community members—to promote cultural diversity, global awareness, competency and understanding.
ICISP
is a regional source of leadership and cooperation, a catalyst and facilitator, which promotes international education and cultural diversity.
Founded in 1986 First study abroad program begins in Spring 1987 (London, England) ICISP offers its first 2-Week Faculty/Administrators’ Exchange in 1989 In 1991, ICISP offers its first summer study abroad program (Queretaro (Queretaro, Mexico) ICISP receives a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Grant sending faculty to China in 1994 ICISP receives a second Fulbright to Zimbabwe in 1995 In 2006, ICISP celebrates its 20th anniversary ICISP receives a 2-year IFSA grant in 2007, which provided a total of $70,000 in scholarship money for students participating in semester study abroad
The ICISP Executive Board consists of the ICISP Chair, Vice Chair, Membership Secretary, ICISP/Host Institution Liaison and the chairs of all the ICISP committees. The Governing Board is comprised of all of the member institutions’ representatives (1-3 per institution), and each institution selects one of its representatives to serve as its voting representative. The ICISP Executive and Governing Boards typically meet twice each semester and once during the summer. The ICISP office is managed via the ICISP Coordinator located at Heartland Community College. The ICISP Coordinator reports directly to the ICISP Chair and ICISP/Host Institution Liaison.
ICISP consists of 34 member institutions & a Wisconsin Consortium, all of which, pay annual participation dues.

Manage consortium membership, dues, communications and mailings. Serve as a resource for ICISP representatives, prospective and current program participants and their families, and international visitors. Process ICISP Consortial Study Abroad Program applications and aid with pre-departure orientations. Receive and process grades for all ICISP study abroad programs. Process applications/registration for retreats and professional exchanges. Serve as SEVIS Responsible Officer. Manage the ICISP budget and historical and current records. Update and maintain the ICISP website.
Recruit students and faculty for ICISP programs. Screen and submit student applications to ICISP or sponsoring institutions. Stay abreast of all ICISP policies and procedures. Advise students and faculty y on all aspects p of ICISP programs. Register students at home institution and collect ICISP and home tuition fee, if any. Process grades when received from ICISP. Liaise with students, the sponsoring institution, and ICISP. Articulate ICISP courses with the college’s curriculum.
