Welcome & Call to Worship

Jethro God seems to delight in working through ordinary people. Even those whom Jesus personally called and sent into ministry, people like Simon Peter or Mary Magdalene, are remarkably ordinary. The thing that makes them special is that they were individuals who were enlisted into God’s service. Our fall series is dedicated to little people in the Bible. Those who are mentioned only briefly and then fade into the background never to be seen again. Most of us are little people too. Our names will never appear in the headlines or in textbooks as having dramatically changed the world. Most of us can identify with these individuals who, for one reason or another, found themselves confronted, not with the opportunity to change the world, but to be faithful. Their response is what makes them special. Of course, that is what just might make us special too.
