Deschutes Children’s Foundation Promoting a community of services for children and families in Deschutes County since 1990. DCF provides rent free office and classroom space, including no cost property manangement at four community campuses. BEND: Rosie Bareis Community Campus - Est. 1990 LA PINE: La Pine Community Campus – Est. 1995 (DCF starts managing in 2000) REDMOND: Becky Johnson Community Campus – Est. 2001 BEND: East Bend Campus - Est. 2001 (New building added 2009)

About Deschutes Children’s Foundation Deschutes Children’s Foundation partners with 26 nonprofit and government agencies that directly serve children and families. This unique model saves over $650,000 annually for DCF’s partners and increases the efficiency of community services by: · Creating a “one stop shop” for child and family services · Reducing operating costs for its nonprofit partners · Promoting collaboration between nonprofit partners · Providing common areas and office equipment for all partner agencies to use

Benefits to Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s Partners · Rent-free office and classroom space · No-cost property management with the services of an onsite facility manager who is first point of contact for visitors · Normal building maintenance and general repairs · A warm, safe and welcoming environment for their clients · Free or reduced rates for conference room, meeting and event space · Shared data and phone services at some facilities, shared copy machines DCF’s partners cover costs associated with utility use (including electricity, gas, water, and in some instances, telephones and data). For all of the services listed above, partners pay, on average, $0.69 per square foot of space used.

Twenty Years Later • How are we enhancing services for our tenants so they can better support their clients? o Shared meeting rooms and equipment booking online . Tenants can book 12 months in advance. o Shared website and promotion o Shared phone system for all tenants; upgraded 5 yrs. ago allows for reduced costs with increased systems options o Access to outdoor reader board o Tenant interaction via Tea and Talks scheduled monthly in the main common area to promote face time with agency staff. Topical focus each month to engage tenants e.g. events in the building o Contractors recognize the building as one large non profit providing cost breaks for work or donation of time and materials. o Board member attends Tenant Council meetings to liaise with tenants and discuss needs for equipment and other supports

Into the Future • How can we further enhance services for our tenants so they can better support their clients? o Expansion plans to build more space for clients services and programs o Design flex space for office and common use o Have dedicated staff to promote tenant engagement and partnership o Include for profit enterprise for food services o Provide Internet capacity for whole building
