Senior team players attend UCD High Performance Centre Panelists of the Irish Senior men’s team are attending their first fitness sessions with the UCD High Performance Centre this week. In an agreement between Head Coach Laurent Cauet and Lisa Regan, Director of the UCD High Performance Centre, both bodies will be working together in ensuring the players on the team will be in their best possible shape and physique throughout the programme, particularly during the opening 12 months of the programmes revival. Cauet has acclaimed the programmes of the UCD High Performance Centre, having also introduced likewise to his UCD Premier Women’s team for the summer, and believes it will reap rewards for the players on the Irish Senior team, both as individuals and together as a unit. “This is going to spur a very professional approach with our players, while their fitness and their understanding in nutrition and hydration will improve too.”

It was confirmed recently also that the Irish Senior squad will host a tournament in early September as part of their goal-based plan, hence the timing of these fitness sessions is poised to add further momentum to each player’s preparation for the event. “Every player will get their personal programme to continue during the month of August”, and should act as sufficient preparation for the th tournament in UCD on September 5 and 6th”, added Cauet. The squad has just completed its second weekend camp and instead of being shown the next phase of the fitness programme at the camp, as at the opening weekend’s sessions in early July, they will instead be shown during the midweek evenings of this week under the direct tuition of the High Performance Centre coaches, Kyle Wallace and John Barrie.
