Kyle Miller ‘06 (below) helped the 2006 Team Canada squad to its first ILF title since 1978.

Ryan McClay ‘03 helped Team USA to its sixth straight ILF championship in 2002 and won another gold medal in 2010 along with Max Seibald ‘09.

The International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) World Championship began as a four-team invitational tournament that coincided with Canada’s centennial lacrosse celebration in 1967. That year, the Mt. Washington (Md.) Lacrosse Club represented the United States and won the tournament. Seven years later, Australia celebrated its lacrosse centennial, and the U.S. fielded an all-star team to compete in a similar international invitational tournament. It was here that the concept of holding a world championship tournament every four years was born and since that time Cornell players and administrators have been prevelent, playing not only for the U.S., but for Canada, Korea, Ireland, Israel, Poland, Sweden and the Iroquois Nation.
