Does it have training wheels? 2. Ask your child what he/she likes about bikes. Is bike riding fun? Does he/she like to go fast? Does he/she like to go slow? 3. Discuss hand signals and why it is important to let other pedestrians and vehicles know what you are doing on your bike. Talk about turning, stopping and slowing down. 4. Discuss the importance of wearing a bike helmet. If they lose balance on their bike, how will a helmet help them? 5. Talk about how riding a bike and wearing a helmet go hand-in-hand. The step in riding a bike is putting on a helmet, and then you can go for a ride.
