Bonita Black Lance, 68, of Warren, MN, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Bonita “Bonnie” Louise was born on February 7, 1947, to Henry “Hank” and Mavis (Bonga) Day, in Cass Lake, MN. Bonita grew up in Walker, MN, and graduated from high school there. She attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis and earned her associates degree, after which, she moved back home. On June 4, 1966, Bonnie was united in marriage to Arthur Smith Black Lance. The young couple made their home in Cass Lake for a few years before moving to Warren in December of 1972, where they have lived ever since. Bonnie worked for Warren High School and Elementary School as a cook for several years. She was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Warren, and was involved with the Covenant Women for many years. Bonnie was also a long time Boy Scout leader in the 70's and 80's. One of Bonnie's greatest loves was her grandchildren, with whom she loved to play games and dress-up. She enjoyed traveling, camping, campfires, and the outdoors. She had a love for dogs and dancing in the kitchen while cooking. Bonnie will be remembered most, though, for her big heart and generous spirit. She was always first in line to help volunteer and even made a trip to Florida after Hurricane Katrina, despite breaking her foot the day she left. In addition to her husband of almost 50 years, Arthur, Bonnie is survived by her children, Terry (Tammie) Black Lance, of Thief River Falls, MN, Cynthia (Dale Adamski) Black Lance of Warren, and Charles (Kathryn) Black Lance of Baxter, MN; six grandchildren, Andrew and Aaron Black Lance, Chelsey Adamski, Olivia, Bethany, and Chayton Black Lance; half-siblings, Dee Day Beaulieu, Carrie Day Aspinwall, and Leroy “Winston” Day. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Douglas “Butch” Day; and several other close relatives.
