Blanchester Girls Fastpitch Softball Blanchester Summer Smash Tournament 2017 (Rec teams only – rosters must be signed by your league director before submittal)
July 8, 9 USSSA rules and regulations will be followed with these exceptions: All Age Groups 1. Games: will be based on time limit first and then innings. No new inning will start after 1 hour and 30 minutes. 2. Run Rule: Run rule criteria (15 / 4, 12 / 5) will be used for all divisions. 8U and 10U will have a 5 run limit per inning with no limit in their final inning. 12U and 14U will have a 6 run limit per inning with no limit in the final (7th) inning. When time limit has expired and the score is tied USSSA tie breaker procedure will begin until a winner is determined. 3. Batting: Roster batting will be used by all teams. 4. Courtesy Runner: May be used for the pitcher or catcher once they become a base runner. The courtesy runner used will be the last runner who committed the last out. 5. Substitution: Unlimited defensive substitutions. 6. Home team: Will be determined by a coin toss. (All Games) 7. Pitching: 8U strictly Coach pitch; 10U 35 feet; 12U/14U 40 feet 8. Game ball: Will be provided. Additional 10U Division Rules a. Complete game will be after 1 hour and 15 minutes or 6 innings unless the run rule is in effect at any point in the game. b. Runs per Inning: No more than 5 runs can be scored by any offensive team per inning, except the sixth (6) if time allows the run limit is lifted. c. A base runner can only steal one base per legal delivery. A walked batter cannot advance/steal to second. d. Stealing of home base is not permitted. A runner may advance/steal to home if the defense attempts to make a play on the runner at third base, once third base has been earned. e. A team may use 10 players defensively, by having 4 outfielders. Outfield positions must be at least 20 feet behind the normal base path at the start of the pitch. f. Batters may not advance on a dropped 3rd strike.
g. Infield fly rule is not in effect. h. Maximum of one additional base on an overthrow from any position. ( however if the runner does not attempt to advance to the next base the runner is not awarded the next base, base must be earned by runner)
i. An eleven (11) inch game ball will be used.
Additional 8U Division Rules
a. Complete game will be after 1 hour 15 minutes or 5 innings, unless the run rule is in effect at any point in the game. b. An eleven (11) inch softball will be used. (no softies) c. Runs per Inning: No more than 5 runs can be scored by any offensive team per inning, except in the fifth (5) inning if time allows the run limit is lifted.
d. No leading off and No Stealing allowed e. A team may use 10 players defensively, by having 4 outfielders. Outfield positions must be at least 20 feet behind the normal base path at the start of the pitch. f. No advancement on overthrows. g. Infield fly rule is not in effect. h. Strictly coach pitch only 1.
There will be no called strikes, no called balls, or hit batters. There will be swinging strikes and strikeouts. On the sixth (6th) pitch, the batter automatically has two (2) strikes. The batter must then hit the ball, if not the batter is out. If a ball is hit foul on the sixth (6th) pitch, or subsequent pitch (s), it will not count as a pitch. There are NO WALKS.
2. If the designated pitcher (coach) attempts to field a batted ball, the batter is out. 3. The designated pitcher cannot coach while the ball is in play. The only time the pitcher can talk to a player is to give instructions to the batter before making the pitch. If the designated pitcher coaches in any other way (i.e. saying “don’t swing or swing”) the umpire will issue one (1) warning. Any additional offenses during the game will result in the umpire calling the batter(s) out. 4. The defensive fielding pitcher will position herself on either side of the designated pitcher. The designated pitcher shall not pitch until the fielding pitcher is in correct position. (behind 35ft line) 5. A batted ball that hits the pitching coach shall be called a dead ball and the batter will be awarded first base. A batted ball that is deflected into the coach shall be considered still in play and all runners advance at their own peril. 6. Batters hit by pitch are not awarded first base 7. No bunting 8. On a batted ball to the outfield, all base-runners and the batter-runner may advance at their own peril a maximum of two (2) bases. If the ball is initially controlled in the infield by an infielder (including the catcher) all base-runners and the batter-runner may only advance at their own peril a maximum of one (1) base.
i. No outfielder shall make an unassisted play at any base. j. A pitcher may not make an unassisted put out by running to and tagging a base or by tagging a base-runner, with the exception of the pitcher fielding a ground ball within 5 feet of the baseline prior to the batter/runner passing.
